EARLY OCTOBER

10.06.15

Hi, sweet friends! I hope ya’ll had a lovely October weekend. Our weekend was mostly spent at home, taking things slow, eating breakfast for dinner, working in the yard, grabbing coffees at Peixoto, hanging out at our local farmer’s market and spending time with our family. I’m not usually one for such slow weekends, but since I knew we were going to have a crazy Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend, I tried to soak in every second to make up for the madness that’s to come this week (Tempe Oktoberfest, anyone? Working there is going to be crazy, but we’ll make it through, as we do every year! ;)).

Aside from being Mrs. lazypants this weekend, I did start planning out part of our Seattle trip that is now only 15 days away. I’ve got big plans to check out Pikes Place Market, the first Starbucks (just have to!), the Puget Sound (one of my most favorites place in the whole wide world), Moorea Seal’s picturesque shop, my mom’s childhood home and the gum wall (of course!). I haven’t been to Seattle in many years, and this will be Scott’s first trip to the Pacific Northwest, so we would both appreciate any all of your suggestions for shops, restaurants, donuts, scenic views and most importantly — coffee! We’re so excited to dive into the coffee culture there and already have a feeling that we’ll be highly caffeinated during our whole trip — which may or may not be a good idea, haha!

Speaking of Seattle, I may have already started to pick out my clothes for the trip. It’s going to be in the 50’s/60’s during the day, and this desert rat just isn’t used to that chilly weather, so I’ll be packing lots of sweaters, cozy socks, boots, scarves and maybe a hat or two. Just typing that out now reminded me of of one of my all-time favorite lyrics from The Postal Service — “I’ll be your winter coat buttoned and zipped straight to the throat, with the collar up so you won’t catch a cold.” Truly, it just makes me so excited to be in DCFC/TPS’s home state — here’s to hoping I see Ben Gibbard running around Seattle one day. 😉

I have a feeling that the rest of the days leading up to the weekend are going to be crazy, but I’ll sure be trying my best to soak in all the October feels I can get — it’s going to be beautiful outside and a PSL is calling my name! Also, two of my longest and sweetest blogging friends are both getting married to their price charmings this week — Tieka & Moorea! I’ll be sending them lots of positive thoughts and love this week and hope you’ll do the same. Marriage is a beautiful, beautiful thing and I am so incredibly excited and happy for them both! Love you, ladies! Here’s to a wonderful week!
