Ever since I got home from Scott and I’s trip to Prescott I have been seriously busy. I wanted to say really quick thank you so much for all the lovely comments I’ve received on my blog lately. You guys are all seriously the best. <3
Anyways, most of my time has been spent shopping with either my mom or my dad. My mom always needs a shopping partner, therefore I’m her go to girl, and my dad currently has a cast on his left leg and can’t go shopping very easy on his own, so they’ve been keeping me plenty busy.
While out with my mom the other night she bought me the loveliest coat from Banana Republic. It’s seriously the warmest coat, and has such a classic look to it! I love it! Here it is ( picture from the Banana Republic website):
I got the coat in the above color, however I feel I will wear it more like it is in the photo below:
Also, while browsing around Flickr I saw this photo of a Kurt Halsey drawing. The way the couple appears seriously reminds me of Scott and I. I just had to save it and share it with you.
Oh, and the sweet Kelsey, who won Scott and I’s very first giveaway, posted a picture of the painting that she won hanging in her room! Looks like she found a perfect place for it<3
Ok, tomorrow brings lots of coffee, helping Scott finish handmade Christmas presents, giving Amanda her Christmas present, and opening presents with my love! Can’t wait!
The day started bright and early for us. We ate cereal, cinnamon rolls, and coffee before heading out. We barely hit any traffic, and were out of the city before we knew it.
We saw this amazing bush decorated with Christmas cheer in the middle of nowhere. It was magical.
About two hours later we arrive in the Prescott. We decided to spend the day in the downtown area where they have amazing antique shops, cute coffee houses, and good places to eat. We decided to go to this cute coffee house that we went to on our last trip to Prescott so that we could get an americano to warm us up (it was seriously chilly outside.
An americano and a almond and raspberry vegan torte. MMMM.
After we warmed up a bit we headed out and walked around the downtown area more. We walked by Prescott’s “art district,” but unfortunately all the galleries were closed, so we just took cute pictures.
A few minutes later we ended up in our first antique store of the day. This one was seriously special and had so many treasures in it.
Vintage Pyrex! Oh my!
Neat old cash register.
I ended up buying my mom a Japanese pixie, or an elf on a shelf as she calls them (pictured). She had one on her tree when she was a little girl, and now this one is currently residing on the top of our tree.
After we made our purchases (Scott bought an awesome antique skeleton key as well) we headed to the center of downtown where their courthouse is so that we could take a few tourist photos.
Then we decided to go on another walk to find Cuppers, a coffee shop that Danielle suggested to me.
Right down the way from Cuppers is a funeral home that Danielle’s family owns. I decided that I needed a photo in front of it (might be innapropriate/silly, but oh well!).
SNOW!!
<3
Around 11:45 we were very hungry and decided to go to a cute burrito shack called Hugo’s (Danielle always talks about this place).
After lunch we drove out of town and found a pile of snow to play in. Even though there wasn’t very much, we had a good time!
Silly boy!
Next on our list of things to do was go to this one road where they have like six or seven antique stores in a row. Here is what we found while looking around:
Vintage Pyrex!
Before heading back down to the valley Scott and I grabbed some drinks at Cuppers. Scott got an Alice Palmer (raspberry lyche tea and lemonade), and I got an iced coffee.
On the way home we stopped at Sunset Point because I’ve never been there before. It was a beautiful view and I’m glad we stopped.
Last minute Scott decided he would really love to have pie in Black Canyon City, which has the best pies in the world. We got a multi-berry, and a chocolate cream. They were DELICIOUS!
Overall it was an amazing trip and I’m so happy we went! I love getting away from the city every one and awhile<3>
Yesterday was a very special day. Scott and I went on a road trip for the first time in almost a year yesterday and all I have to say right now is that it was magical.
Tomorrow is going to be one fun/special day for Scott and I. For now I’m leaving it a secret as to what we are doing, but in the morning I will be posting the what we will actually be doing on my twitter account!
Stay tuned for cute photos, and lots of stories the following day!
Has it really been three days since I last blogged? Wow, so sorry readers! I’ve just been so busy with finals and school has been ruling my life. Anyways, here is what I’ve been up to:
Saturday night Scott and I went with Amanda and her family to the Phoenix Zoo Lights. We got to the zoo a little after 5:30, and waiting in line till the zoo opened around six. For those of you who have never had a “zoo lights” experience, you basically walk around the zoo while all the animals are asleep and put away, and marvel over the thousands of lights that they have strung around the entire zoo. There are animals made out of lights, trees covered in lights, and other various things made entirely out of lights. They even have a special walk way where the lights flicker’s correspond to a certain song being played.
Along the way myself, and Amanda’s brother, took a few snapshots:
Danccccing trees
Singggging trees
Amanda, Scott and I in front of the pink and white trees that were my favorite!
Sunday was spent cleaning, studying for finals, and picking up my parents from the airport. They went on a 10 day cruise and stopped at 5 or 6 different islands. It’s safe to say that they had a great time!
Monday Scott and I went to our favorite little breakfast spot in Gilbert, Liberty Market (it was Scott’s surprise for his advent day). We had a lovely breakfast of biscuits and gravy americanos, and cortaditos (micro lattes with raw sugar).
A few photos of our breakfast adventure:
Sipping his americano.
MMMM
Stirring the raw sugar at the bottom of the bowl.
Pretty nails.
MMMMMM
Yesterday afternoon Scott and I finished making our Christmas cards and sent all of them off (except the ones that we are planning on hand delivering).
This morning/afternoon I had my two last final exams. I was pretty nervous for both, but in the end I think they went really well.
Tonight I worked on a few handmade Christmas presents, and watched most of Gone with the Wind with my mom.
Tomorrow will be spent Christmas shopping, possibly going on a walk/hike, and going to a certain place with Scott (it’s his advent day gift!).
The morning started out with me waking up a half hour before I was supposed to meet Scott for our weekly Friday morning coffee date. After speaking to Scott on the phone shortly after we decided that we would skip out on the coffee since we didn’t have much time, and he was still very tired and wanted to sleep more.
Since a girl needs her coffee in the morning I decided to go to Starbucks for a skinny vanilla latte in my new holiday tumbler. After I got my drink I headed down to the Brickyard for the last time (for this semester at least). Today was my last day at my internship in the media relations department of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, and all I have to say is that I truly enjoyed my time there, and feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to meet all the great people in that office, and get so much writing done (yay clips!).
Around one when I was getting ready to leave my boss asked if I had time to get coffee with him, so we went to Starbucks and he gave me some great advice about the whole journalism world, keeping contacts, and well wishes for my future.
Around two I headed to Scott’s where we spent some time making a few different holiday gifts. About an hour later, after Scott finished the project he had been working on, we decided to pick up something to snack on and go to Nordstroms rack.
At the rack we found a few things that we just had to have including, gold nail polish, cute Christmasy plaid BP flats, and Christmas presents that he knows about because he picked them out<3
Essie nail polish in Mint Candy Apple! Thanks Danielle for the suggestion!
The rest of the night was spent eating dinner, and doing more crafts. I even came home and made something that I’ve been wanting to for awhile now (pictures to come soon).
Tomorrow Scott and I are going with Amanda and her family to Zoo Lights. We’re super excited and ready to drink some hot chocolate already!
I have my last two exams on Tuesday, then it’s winter break for me! I absolutely can’t wait! I already have a list of things to make, read, and bake!
Oh, and did I mention that Amanda, Gina, and I went to see New Moon on Thursday night! It was Gina and I’s second time seeing it, and Amanda’s first. Lets just say I laughed a lot, and swooned over R-Patz way too much.
Also, I know I promised Christmas photos but I haven’t finished decorating yet so check back soon for some cute holiday decor photos.
Ok, off to bed.
(I knitted Scott that scarf the first year that we were together!)
On Monday night Scott and I went to see Frank Warren, the creator of PostSecret, speak at Changing Hands Bookstore.
The “unplugged” session was incredibly inspiring, and I am SO happy that I finally got to hear him speak. He even signed my book:
On Tuesday I went shopping at some local downtown Phoenix shops and got this cute bumper sticker from Frances for free:
(Love Phoenix or Leave Phoenix)
Tonight I went to ANOTHER book signing at Changing Hands with my good friend Gina (who everyone should follow because she is quite lovely!). We went to see Kim Barnouin, who is one of the authors of Skinny Bitch, and another Skinny books. The talk turned into more of a Q&A and it was a lot of fun to listen to.
Tonight I also bought a cute tumbler at Starbucks but it was such a good deal (12 days of Christmas).
Ok, will blog tomorrow with Christmas decoration pictures, and perhaps an updated Christmas list!
This weekend went by so incredibly quickly, probably because it was just so fun and couldn’t last.
Friday morning before I went in to my internship Scott met me for coffee at Cartel Coffee Lab. We haven’t been there in awhile, mostly because the line in the morning is always HUGE and we have a limited amount of time to hang out. We ended up getting a latte, and an americano, which unfortunately was too bitter for my love, and they had no raw sugar to make it better. We took a few cute pictures while we were there:
After coffee I headed off to my internship and had a little mishap. Well, you see the Tempe Art Festival was going on literally outside my office building, and the garage that I park in under my building turned into this weird $10 parking lot.
After arguing a few minutes with an unruly man about how I am NOT going to pay $1o to park in a garage that I park in all the time for free, I ended up parking at my Gina’s house a few blocks away and walking in the freeeezing morning atmosphere.
Around 1pm Scott met me back down in Tempe and we walked around the art festival. There were a ton of booths, and we even bought a few things (pasta, and a Christmas present for my mom!).
We also went on an impromptu walk/photoshoot in a cute neighborhood and got some fresh squeezed juice!
Friday evening Scott, Amanda, and my friend Whitney went to a cute craft fair behind Frances/Stinkweeds etc. Everything was handmade, and super cute. Amanda bought a cute knit beanie that fits her perfectly, and I believe Scott bought something for me for Christmas… :]
Before heading down to First Friday’s we also went to Smeeks, an amazingly cool old school candy store. We all had a lot of fun looking at all the candy, and being in this nostalgic state, or at least I was.
After Smeeks we went down to Roosevelt to walk around, and Whitney’s friend Cory decided to join us for the walk. This month everything was a bit out of order, but nonetheless just as great. Amanda and I had fun running around while Scott took pictures of us, and we even went into a home that was made in two train cargo boxes.
Saturday Scott and I hung around home, and started working on our Christmas cards. We also went out to dinner at Pita Jungle with our friend Gina, which was lovely.
Today was spent shopping at Target, and Costco with my grandma, doing homework, making Christmas cards, and eating frozen yogurt with Amanda and Scott.
By the way, my lovely blog friend Danielle is having an AMAZING giveaway over on her blog!!!
Scott and I made these two lovely advent calendars a few weeks back, the tan one is our, the grey one we made for Scott’s little sister. So far we’ve been really enjoying our calendar and loving have a different surprise every other day (we switched back and forth as to who get’s to open it and eat the chocolate, although we usually share it).
Scott and I’s.
Sara’s!
The 1st was my day to open the surprise. What I found was a piece of chocolate and an amazing hand carved wooden J necklace, made by my own John Scott<3
Day 2 was a piece of chocolate for my love, and a mini Christmas blend package of coffee, which we shared and enjoyed verrrry much. We made cinnamon rolls too!
Vintage Pyrex mugs that we thrifted and love.
Day 3 was a new blog button that my love made for me, and a piece of chocolate which he ate<3
Day 4 was a note to my love stating that we should take our Christmas card picture, and buy something cute at First Fridays, which we definitely did! Oh and a piece of chocolate of course.
Day 5 was a piece of chocolate and an IOU note stating that I will have to wait until Christmas for my day 5 gift.
It is safe to say that I LOVE our advent calendar and am so happy that we decided to make it. Can’t wait for all the other days in this month.
