A little vintage find.

05.21.10
Last weekend Scott and I did a little thrifting at a few local shops. At first we weren’t having much luck, but we ended up finding a mystery suitcase that was locked and just could not be opened unless the suitcase was to be broken with a screwdriver.
Even though we couldn’t see exactly what was inside the suitcase we had a pretty good idea that it was some type of typewriter, as we could barely peek in and slightly see a set of keys, and I googled the name on the case and saw that it was a typewriter company.
After purchasing the mystery suitcase and bringing it home Scott attempted to break the lock mechanism so that we could see what was inside. After about fifteen minutes, Scott broke the suitcase opened and we found this sitting inside of it:
A 1970’s Smith-Corona typewriter in pretty much mint condition.
The minute Scott got it opened. See that big smile!
Scott and I have a good feeling that this typewriter was purchased, used only a handful of times, then locked and was never opened again until that night.
The typewriter still had all of its original papers, and showed us that it was purchased in September of 1972.

We literally only payed $10 for this beauty, and I feel that is one of our best vintage finds!

What’s your best/favorite vintage find?
