Abandoned Telluride

07.21.11
Western Colorado is filled with the most beautiful abandoned houses and buildings. During Scott’s trip we stopped twice to explore some pretty abandoned houses and buildings (you can see our first abandoned adventure here!). The second time around we spotted these abandoned buildings right outside of Telluride, CO and immediately pulled over to look around.

There were a few buildings fairly close together in this field off the side of the highway. I’m assuming there once was a hotel here with a few buildings for living quarters for employees. We stayed pretty close to one building that I can only imagine to be a garage for forgotten dreams and forever lost Sunday drives.

These two beauties were spotted inside. I only wish we could have take the yellow one home with us! What an amazing car that would be to drive around the city!
The whole time we were taking these photos I was slightly scared a police officer would pull up and tell us to scram! There was a sign posted close to this garage door stating that the buildings are looked after by the local police, and trespassers will be ticketed! I put on my brave face though (I can be such a scardy cat!) and I’m happy we stuck around!
While taking these photos Scott and I were obsessed with the idea of getting the reflection of our beautiful scenic surroundings just right. The sun was shining and the sky was bright blue with the prettiest white, puffy clouds. It really was a perfect afternoon (and the best was yet to come!).
With my flowery, flowy blouse and my Blowfish Shoes Gimmiks I felt extra 1970’s. I’m pretty sure my mom wore outfits like this in the 70’s, although, I’m certain she would have worn bell bottoms instead (if only I had a pair!).

Scott and I took a handful of photos together while standing there next to that abandoned garage. All of these photos make my heart flutter, and really capture our love for one another. We have been together for almost five years now, and it’s amazing how much we’ve changed and grown together since we were 18 (well, technically Scott was 17 for four days when we started dating!). I am truly so lucky to have Scott in my life and can’t image spending the rest of my life with anyone but him!

Just a few more weeks and we will be back together again! Until then though, I still have a few fun adventure posts to share of our week together! We had so many great adventures in such a short period of time. It truly was an amazing week!
