Have I mentioned how amazing it is to be home? Well, it most certainly is! On Wednesday Scott and I went down to the Mesa Arts Center to see a show we’ve been waiting months for, The Decemberists! Scott and I have been fans of their music for quite some time now (I remember being introduced to Her Majesty in early high school days from a friend that was always in the know about the newest indie music), so we were so happy that they finally came to Phoenix (they usually skip us and go to Tucson) and that we were able to snag some amazing seats!
I wanted to wear something comfortable and a little warm to the show. The venue is inside, and from past experiences there I know that it can get very cold when they crank the air conditioner up. I also really love the jean on jean look, and thought it would be fun for the show.
Scott was such a good sport and took these photos for me. It’s honestly so nice to have my own personal photographer back! He told me he was a little rusty, but I am sure he will be back to his pro ways in no time. I am SO happy I don’t have to drag around that tripod anymore. I always got such weird looks from people when I was standing in front of the camera, snapping away photos of myself.
I’m also so happy that I’m able to look at this handsome face every day in real life again. I missed him so incredibly much while I was away. Can you believe we have been together almost five years? Where has the time gone?
Nowadays I’m kind of Instagram obsessed and now love making Scott my subject for every photo. He thinks I should be his though.
We were both really happy that the show was at the Mesa Arts Center. The venue is a beautiful, state-of-the-art theater that has nice chairs, good acoustics, and is always clean. I feel so lucky to have something like this in our town!
When Scott and I got to our seats we were shocked at our amazing view. We knew we were going to be up high, and at one point we thought our seats were elsewhere with minimal visibility of the stage, but once we got to our real seats we were in awh.
We sat on the very top balcony, all the way to the right on a corner that only holds two seats. We had no one sitting in front, behind, or to the side of us. I felt like we were in our own little private viewing box. It was honestly so perfect.
The Decemberists themselves were amazing. So full of energy and entertaining. We had a perfect birds eye view from our seats, and it was so nice to be able to see everything that was happening on the stage.
We had so much fun singing along and would definitely see them again. If you’re a Decemeberists fan and have never seen them live, I really recommend doing so. You won’t be disappointed!
