Scott and I are back today with another easy DIY project! This time around we made a rustic lipstick holder out of a piece of pecan firewood that we had lying around our backyard. I’m a big lipstick lover, but struggle with how to store and display my favorite colors. So Scott and I sat down and sketched out a simple holder made with things we found around our home. We really enjoyed working on this project, and hope you love it too! 

Supplies:

– One log cut down to about 4 in. long 

Tools:

– A pencil

– A lipstick to stencil with – pick one that resembles the average size of your lipsticks

– 3/4 in. wood boring bit

-Drill

-Miter saw (if you need to make your own cut)

Step One: If you plan on making your own cut at home, use a miter saw or hand saw to cut your log down to 4 inches long. The log should also be about 4 inches wide. 

Step Two: Take your pencil and trace the bottom of the lipstick, starting in the center and then tracing the outer circle.

Step Three: Take your boring bit and mark it with a pencil with how deep you want your lipstick to fit into the wood so you know when to stop drilling.

Step Four: Start drilling! Start with the center circle and make your way around the outer circle.

Step Five: You’re all done! Blow off the extra sawdust and store your favorite lipsticks in it!

This would be the perfect project for a beauty lover, or just anyone needing some extra storage space for their beloved lipsticks. I absolutely love how this turned out, and have already filled it with a few of my favorite lip colors, all from MAC and NYX. This would also be a great spot for rotating your seasonal and most loved colors so their always on display and ready to go when you are!
