Peach picking is a right of passage during the month of May! Every year, Scott and I take a trip out to our favorite local farm for their annual peach festival — where you can sample every type of peach candy or salsa you can image, and also pick your own farm fresh peaches straight off the tree. During this years’ festival, though, we were so busy with Scott’s graduation, having family in town, working and more, so we didn’t think we were going to be able to make it out to the farm. However, our sweet aunt surprised us with a request to take her citrus picking in the orchard we went to back in February, and much to our dismay (and delight) citrus picking was just about done for the season and in its’ place were trees and trees of darling peaches ripe for the pickin’!
After grabbing our pickin’ boxes and baskets, we set out to find the most perfect peaches. Every year we tend to go a bit overboard with the amount of peaches we end up pickin’, but this time around we tried our best to only pick the best of the best — after all, a handful of these pretty peaches would be making their way back home with our family to Washington state where peach season is still a few months away.
Scott and I had the best time wandering around the orchard at Agritopia with our family. They day we went there were tons of people there getting their peach pickin’ fix for the year. Some people had only a few peaches in their boxes to take home, and others had pounds of peaches they were carrying around with even more boxes already up at the make-shift register ready to be weighed, paid for and turned into something delicious (or just eaten straight — my favorite!). Since the pickin’ season is just about over for peaches, Agritopia is already gearing up for their next in-season fruit — apples! I know, I know, apples seem like they really should be ready to be picked in September/October, but here in the Arizona heat and sun, everything is ready months ahead. If you’re interested, keep an eye out for the first u-pick apple pickin’ announcement on the Agritopia Instagram!
I couldn’t resist sharing a photo of our aunt and uncle that came to visit and celebrate Scott’s graduation — don’t they look so cute and sweet standing under that peach tree! Love you, Uncle Billy and Aunt LouEllen!

Do you have any fruit picking planned for the summer? Peaches, cherries, blueberries, etc.? Also, can you believe that May is almost over? This year is flying by!
