CP Burger Date

07.09.12

Scott and I recently took a trip to Aspen, Colorado. I’ve been going to Aspen since I was a kid, but this was Scott’s first visit there. Growing up I was never too impressed by the town, but over the past few years things around downtown Aspen have really livened up and it has turned into a destination I would visit over, and over again. When we pulled into Aspen we were starving, so we decided to do what any food network loving person would do, ask the locals where we should eat.

Some sweet ladies working in a candy shop pointed us in the direction of CP Burger, and I have to say, we were more than impressed with their suggestion. The tiny restaurant was filled to the brim with customers, with many more opting to sit outside on the patio (next to the miniature golf course!). We quickly ordered our meals and then scoped out a table for two.
CP Burger gives all of their customers names of famous authors, actors, politicians, etc., instead of numbers to claim their meals. Scott and I got Edgar Allen Poe and it was really funny to hear the waitress yelling out his name as she set our food up on the tiny pick-up counter.
The food was delicious! Our chicken sandwiches were perfect (there was some kind of amazing, creamy sauce on it that I still can’t figure out what it was exactly), and the fries were some of the best I’ve had. I was so excited to see that they had parmesan truffle fries so Scott to try them out! One of my favorite burger joints in the Western Slope serves these amazing parmesan truffle fries, and CP’s own version definitely gave theirs a run for their money!
We both really enjoyed our lunches, the atmosphere of the burger joint, and were so happy that a sweet local pointed us in the right direction for a great lunch date.
Have you tried out any new lunch spots lately? Find any new favorites?
