heavy heart

03.16.12

I don’t even know where to start. My heart is heavy and nothing can make it better. My family suffered an incredible loss on Tuesday, and each minute since has been more hard than I can even explain. I spent 15 wonderful years with my puppy soulmate, and I will miss him every single day of my life.
Positive thoughts would be gratefully appreciated, and thank you so much to everyone who has already been keeping me in their thoughts.
Love,

When We Were Young

03.13.12

Sometimes life throws something your way and you really don’t know how to handle it. I don’t really want to go into much detail, but I would really appreciate any and all positive thoughts sent my way. Thank you so much, friends.

Tonight I have class and I plan on picking up a giant iced coffee at my favorite coffee shop beforehand. I might also spend some time listening to Sucre’s When We Were Young. My sweet friend Elsie put together this amazing limited edition, Red Velvet package for the release of Sucre’s album and I am so, so excited for her! You can read all about it right here, and pre-order the package right here! I absolutely need my own!
Thank you all for always being there for me! I truly have no idea what I would do without this amazing blogging community. I feel so blessed to be a part of all of this, and I’m thankful for it each and every day! XO

Frances Summer Shop

03.12.12
During Carmelpalooza Scott and I stopped into the new Frances Summer Shop to have a look around. The shop had just recently re-opened, and were excited to see what they had been working on.

I LOVE these little ceramics!
This bench is one of my favorite things in the central phoenix plaza. It used to be outside, and I most definitely took outfit photos in front of it before.
Happy together.
If you’re local (or stopping in Phoenix for a visit) be sure and check out the Frances Summer Shop (located right between Frances and Smeeks).
Do you have any cute shops like this in your town?

Caramelpalooza 2012

03.11.12

A few weeks back Scott and I attended Carmelpalooza in central Phoenix. The event is hosted by a few of my favorite local shops (Frances and Smeeks!), and is always such a fun time.

We ended up with oodles of amazing caramel treats from local chefs, but our very favorite treat was our friend Brendan’s PB&J Caramels! Brendan is an amazing pastry chef, and one of the nicest people I know!
Scott and I both had a really lovely time and we were so happy that we were able to attend! This year there was so many more vendors, and we ended up with so many caramels (that I continued to eat for days afterward). We already can’t wait for next year!

UncommonGoods Summer Picnic Design Challenge

03.11.12

Happy Sunday! Hope your day is off to a great start. I wanted to stop in to tell you about this sweet contest that just launched at UncommonGoods. Since many of my readers are into design and crafts, I thought it would be great to share this here!

“One of our greatest focuses at UncommonGoods is connecting with the design community by keeping the lines with our merchants open for artists to submit their designs and calling upon artists for our design challenges. In the past we have had design challenges for jewelry, pottery, and cards.
Our first design challenge of 2012 has begun and it is call to all graphic designers and illustrators. We have teamed up with Susty Party, a Brooklyn start-up that sells sustainable party ware, and Recyclebank, an online community that rewards its members for making eco-friendly decisions. The winning design will be stamped onto cups and plates to be sold at UncommonGoods for summer parties and picnics, and the winning design will receive $500 and a vendor contract.”
You can enter the contest right here! Good luck everyone, and have fun with it! XO

3 Days to Austin at CO+HOOTS

03.09.12

Earlier this week Scott and I attended the 3 Days to Austin event that was happening at CO+HOOTS in downtown Phoenix. I had class until 8:30 p.m. that night, so we were a bit late, but it was still so nice to stop in, see a few of our friends, and take a look around in the neat space.

I really love that poster up on the right. I’m pretty sure I need my own copy of it.
I’m off to an early morning coffee date this morning! Lets hope traffic doesn’t slow me down. I NEED my caffeine fix ASAP (and maybe a pastry too!).
It’s Friday! What are you up to today?

Rio Grande

03.08.12

I just read a tweet that a friend retweeted and it said, “It’s a new day.” This was exactly what I needed to read at this very moment. The hustle and bustle of every day life lately has been bringing me emotionally, and physically down, and sometimes it’s hard to snap yourself out of it. Earlier this morning I read a post on Kate Miss’s blog about making happy, and it really spoke to me. Sometimes it’s so obvious that the universe is trying to speak to me, and today I’m really going to listen.

I felt really great in this outfit the other day. Scott and I spent the morning sipping coffee with Courtney and taking some fun photos with her, and then we were off to my evening class in West Phoenix. I’m a firm believer that what you wear can have a big impact on your mood, and this outfit definitely brighten my day. My light jeans and Rio Grande clogs put me in the mood to just sit outside and soak in the sun and beauty of the day (even on such a windy day!).
Scott looked especially handsome this day and I just couldn’t let him get away without snapping a few photos of him as well.

Lately the weather has been so warm (it was in the mid 80’s yesterday!), and it was a perfect day to style up my new Rio Grande Clogs from Ugglebo Clogs. Their new spring collection is amazing, but out of all of the their new styles the Rio Grandes are definitely my favorite. I love the weaving detail, and how easy they are to walk in. They also fit like a charm, and I can’t wait to style them up more this spring and summer. I think I also may need this style in all the colors it comes in! I seriously can’t get enough of them! If you haven’t already checked out Ugglebo Clogs new SS12 collection, I highly suggest doing so!

Today I have a big research proposal to turn in! I’m crossing my fingers on this one! I’ve written hypothetical research proposals before, but have never had the actual intent on doing them. I’m hoping this one goes over really well and I won’t have to make any changes to my research design. It’s kind of crazy to think about how I am legally allowed to research humans now. Last semester I had to go through hours of training to be certified! So crazy! I also plan on picking up some iced coffee and making the best out of the rest of the day!
What are you up to today? Any thoughts on being down and turning things around? XO
