My New Old Ring

08.29.10
While out and about Friday Scott and I checked out a local vintage spot. I was super impressed by their vintage clothing selection, but even more impressed with their vintage jewelry section.
While looking through the cases I spotted a beautiful selection of black hills gold rings. As mentioned on here before, I am kind of obsessed with all rings, with black hills gold being among my favorite, so I was instantly drawn to them.
Many of them were either too large, or too small for my fingers (my ring fingers are about a 6 3/4). After trying on a few different rings I stumbled upon this one that fit just perfect:
After much debating Scott purchased it for me as a gift and I couldn’t be happier! It’s going to be my “Fall ring.”
I have this sense though that maybe I should give a little background story as to why I love Black Hills Gold so much: a few years ago before my grandmother passed away she gave me a few different Black Hills Gold rings, a bracelet, and a necklace. Since her passing I’ve cherished each piece that much more, and whenever I look at them I think about her.
Here is one of the rings she gave me next to the one Scott bought me:

Do you wear rings? Do you have a favorite one? If so, do you have a background story behind it?

Oh my, Fall Headbands

08.29.10
Last week I made a little comment on Sarah’s blog about her possibly making her new adorable headbands in Fall colors. Well, much to my surprised Sarah was inspired by my thought and a few days later featured these adorable headbands on her blog:

Both of these headbands are so cute and I think they would be a great addition to anyones Fall wardrobe. As of now I don’t see them available in her Etsy shop, but I have a feeling that that may change!

The Loveliness that was Friday

08.28.10
Yesterday was quite the lovely day! Scott and I started our morning with a trip to Cartel Coffee Lab in Tempe to meet Courtney of Dolly and Boy. Courtney and I have been tweeting, emailing, and writing letters to one another for a few months now and it was awesome to finally meet her in person (she recently moved back to the Phoenix area from LA). Sadly, I did not get a picture with her (next time!), but I did snap a few shots of Scott and I’s coffee before Courtney arrived.

Downtown Dispatch blogs), and eating a super yummy lunch at Pita Jungle (a local healthy/veggie friendly restaurant that has the best berry iced tea around).
Scott and I also had the most wonderful night. We got iced tea at Coffee Bean with Gina and her friend Sebastian, and then went down to Marquee theater for the free Artists for Action show (a show that was put on to promote voting in the November election). While there I actually signed a form to have Willie Nelson (more like a recording of him) call me on the 2nd of November (my half birthday!) to remind me to vote!
I also ran into/finally met some of the most lovely people including one of my editors and friends Erica, my new friend Chanelle, one of my super sweet pen pals Elisa, and Anita whom I’ve been following through her blog and various other internet forms for years!
It was a super fun night and I was really happy to see some of my favorite local musicians i.e. Sam Means (Anita’s husband) and Jim Adkins (singer of Jimmy Eat World).
What was your Friday like?

Pumpkin Spice Waffles, Take 1

08.26.10
This morning Scott came over bright and early for a Fall inspired breakfast! We made pumpkin spice waffles and french press coffee.

What is getting you into the mood for the Fall season? Are you ready to have your first PSL? I know I am!
On a side note, today was my second full day back at school and all I can say is that I’m exhausted. Well, on a second thought I guess I can say that today I had a super yummy breakfast, a nice chat with a former professor of mine, and got to make my google reader and newly created igoogle page pretty by adding all my favorite blogs in class (yes, it was actually what I was supposed to be doing too).
How was your day today?

Sprinkles: I’m obsessed

08.25.10
If you follow Sprinkles Cupcakes on Twitter you know that every day they tweet the secret word of the day, and if you are one of the first 25 or 50 persons to whisper the secret phrase you get a free cupcake (their pic of course). Well, it’s safe to say that Scott and I have gotten at least four or five free cupcakes a piece over the last year, and the other day we were lucky enough to make the cut and get free red velvet cupcakes!

Did I mention that Scott also got a frosting shot of pumpkin spice frosting? It was amazing! They’re pumpkin spice cupcakes are by far my favorite.
What is your favorite kind of cupcake?
