For the last few weeks I have been crocheting my own doilies, for a project that I’m not actually sure of you. Today though I decided to sew one to a little piece of brown felt, and sew it to a headband. The results:
Have you made any neat headbands lately, or seen any online that you just love? I would love to know!

Awhile back I found out that one of my favorite crafty girls in Phoenix, Ashley of Merry May Handmade, and also the girls at Butter Toast Boutique, were planning on holding a party at their shared store in honor of Etsy’s 5th birthday! Well, the party this Friday, June 18th, and is starting at 7 p.m. at their shop in downtown Phoenix ( 908 N. 6th Street).
This party is seriously going to be loads of fun! They are going to have all the birthday essentials, including crepe paper, balloons, and cake! There will also be a few DIY stations, a ton of how-to print outs that Etsy has provided Merry May Handmade and Butter Toast, and also a craft swap station for all those extra craft supplies you may have hanging around (seriously though, who doesn’t love a good craft swap!).
Although I will be unable to attend, I think that this is going to be a an absolute fun party, and great way to support your local craft scene (and Etsy as well). So I encourage everyone in the Phoenix Metropolitan area to attend Etsy’s 5th birthday, hosted at Merry May Handmade and Butter Toast Boutique. It’s sure to be a fun one!
Hope everyone has a lovely day! Oh, and don’t forget to RSVP to this event on their Facebook page.
The other day my mom had some business to attend to in Carbondale, CO. I decided to go along with her for the ride, and spent some time walking around the town while she took care of business.
I visited a few local thrift stores, including this cute one:
I also took a visit to the only coffee shop in town, a place called The Lift.
The had a lovely bookcase wall, and also a spacious sitting area.
I got my usual, an iced americano, and sat outside to watch the people passing by.
I also took a stroll to the local bookstore, and admired their lovely flower box, and also their adorable handmade sign.
PS What’s your favorite thing about exploring a new town? Are there certain kinds of stores, or other things that you look out for? I would love to know!
Today was a very busy day, and I made a few stops in a couple of different towns.
The first town was Grand Junction, CO (again, I know). In GJ I had lunch with my mom at my favorite cafe, stopped by my favorite antique store in hopes that it was open (it wasn’t), and grabbed an iced americano.
I also went on a walk with my dog, Jake. My mom snapped a photo of us:
Overall, it was a very nice day and I’m happy that I was able to document it.
With summer in full swing I’ve decided to write up a three part Travel Tips blog post.
As many of you may have realized, I do A LOT of traveling. Since the 23rd of May when I started my travels for the summer I have been to at least a dozen towns, and have spent much time exploring each of them. Traveling is truly in my blood, and it is something that I’ve grown accustomed to over the years. Although I may not like it all the time (I really do like consistency), it is something that I feel I am good at and able to handle on a regular basis.
Therefore I’ve decided to share a few of my travel tips on how-to find the most interesting shops/coffee shops/restaurants in the area, as well as how-to pack/keep a bag during your travels, and finally how-to cure those homesick blues while you’re out on your travels.
I’m very excited about these posts, as traveling is near to my heart, and I hope you all enjoy them.
Anyways, Part 1 is all about scoping out the area that you will be visiting in order to provide maximum fun/enjoyment while you’re there. I highly suggest attempting to do this before you arrive at your destination, for the fact that when you get there you will already know where to go (unless you like that uncertainty thing). Google is a great place to start, I would suggest phrases like “coffee shops in Delta, Colorado,” or “antique stores in Delta, Colorado,” but whatever you choose make it something that is you, someplace that you know you will be enjoying, whether it’s a coffee shop, or a city park.
After you’ve found a few places online that you would like to visit, print the map out with directions from where you will be staying to the locations. I do this a lot because it seems to really cut down on my “getting lost” time.
So after all your pre-planning is done, and you’ve arrived at your destination and have started to find your planned stops, don’t be afraid to ask around for the certain places you’re looking for i.e. coffee shops, bookstores, veggie restaurants. Locals seriously always know best, and I’ve found over the years that if you’re willing to ask, they are always willing to tell. I’ve found some of my favorite places from suggestions that a random local town person has given me.
Also, while you’re roaming around keep your eye out for local posters. These posters can tell you whether any festivals are going on, when the farmers market is, and if any bands are playing sometime soon in that area. Posters are a great resource, and can usually lead you to a lot of fun.
Ok, that’s Part 1 of my Travel Tips blog post. Look for Part 2 coming soon.
I would love to hear your feedback on this project, so feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
Yesterday, while out running a few errands in Grand Junction, Colorado, I made a quick stop at my favorite coffee shop in the area- Roasted.
I found this cute coffee shop a few years ago, when it was still located in the back of a mountain sports based store. Since then it has relocated to a cute building down the street, that once used to hold another cherished coffee shop.
This was their sign that sits right on the corner in their historic downtown area:
& this is their sign this year:
I feel like they may have rubbed out the old sign, as to not cause confusing, but really it was a old beautiful sign and I’m sad to see it gone.
The inside is equally as cute:
I kind of really adored their extra-long lists of syrups, even though I never take any of them in my coffee:
The building is super small, but the feeling that you have while inside is great. The coffee smells so good, and the staff is friendly. I plan on taking Scott here in a few weeks, and plan on going there as many times as I can this summer.
Recently, I’ve really been blessed with some very sweet packages. On Wednesday I was lucky enough to receive two in one day!
The first was from my cousin Stacy. She sent me some coffee beans from Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Seattle, WA. She also sent me a picture of my little cousin Orion. Isn’t he the cutest?
The second package was from my wonderful boyfriend Scott. It included:
A package of thrifted embroidery yarn, a beautiful anchor necklace (we’ve had this since for matching anchors for as long as I can remember), a beautiful note that made me cry, and some pretty Japanese packing tape.
I have a few packages that I’m currently working on right now. I’ve found that putting together packages for friends is a lot of fun during the summer, as I travel a lot and see to stumble upon cute things here and there that I feel make the packages unique, and different from what they might be if I made them while solely at home.
Have you received any sweet packages lately? Are you currently working on one for a loved one, or friend?
