As mentioned in a few previous post, I have been looking for a vintage bicycle to ride around this summer during my travels this summer. Well, after a few mishaps aka I almost had a bike, or couldn’t find a way to get a bike up country, I finally own my second vintage bike.
There’s a cute little story that goes along with the finding of this bike- the other day I was antique shopping in a office supply/antique store when I cat came out from behind a vintage chair and started meowing at me, LOUDLY. The cat continued to follow me around the circle of antiques, and continued to meow, and even hissed a few times. Eventually the cat backed me into this corner room because I was afraid it was going to bite me (I’m a little afraid of cats and their sharp fangs). Once in said corner, I turned around and there was the bike, sitting in-between a couch and some kind of plastic tubing. I immediately fell in love, and just knew it was a nice bike. So I decided to make my way up to the front and asked the lady working there about the bike, and if she was selling it. To my delight she said it had been sitting there for ages, then offered to pull it out so I could get a better look at it, then offered it to me for $7.50. Needless to say I took her steal of an offer, and left the shop with a new (vintage) bike.
The bike is in great condition, and needed minimal work. I scrubbed it down with some soap and water, cleaned the outside of the internal hub to make it shine, put down the seat, and fixed up the tires.
This morning I have a lovely bike ride planned, and only wish my wonderful boyfriend Scott was here to go on it with me.
Yesterday I decided to take a walk to the local lake here in Delta, Colorado. It was only about a five minute walk, but once I got there I felt like I was in a whole new place.
There are two main docks that lead to the lake, so after I visited the first one, a took another short walk to the second and spent some time there as well.
This little walk made me feel so much better, and more at peace with myself. Being away from your boyfriend/soulmate, family, friends, and normal habitat can be very hard, but with a little faith, some phone calls and skype dates, as well a walk to the nearby lake every once awhile, ones heart and mind can rest a little easier and see through the fog that may be clouding ones mind, and realize that everything is just fine.
Do YOU ever take little walks, or bike rides that really open up your heart and mind? I would love to hear your story.
This morning I made a trip to my favorite coffee shop in Delta, Colorado-Doghouse Espresso.
This cute shop is located in the heart of downtown Delta, and is full of charm. I decided to stick with my all-time favorite, an iced americano, and sat at a table facing the window.
The ceiling of the shop is my absolute favorite. I wish I could have an ornate tin roof in my home.
Overall, I really enjoyed my trip and will be going back, in fact, I went back this afternoon and got an even larger iced americano!
Recently, I received a lovely package from Diana of Our City Lights. Not too long before Diana had asked her Twitter followers if someone would like a copy of the book Eat, Pray, Love. Well, I have been dying to read that book (and see the movie) so I immediately tweeted her back and said that I would LOVE to have it. In the end Diana said that it was mine and that she would be sending me it, as well as something else, as a late birthday present.
Well, I was super excited when my mail arrived and in it was this beautiful package from Diana. After opening it was I was in awe, and felt overwhelmingly excited and thankful. Diana is so sweet, and really made my day (week, and month) with her thoughtful package.
The contents included:
Eat, Pray, Love , Liberty of London card, the Autumn fine art print, the Save Ferris notecard, You Are My Everything print, cute photo bags, I’ve Waited My Whole Life For You card, and the Details print.
Did I mention even the outside of the package was adorable? Check out those sweet stickers:
Once again, I feel like I can’t say this enough, Diana’s photos are top-notch quality, and she’s a true sweetheart. I highly suggest purchasing something from her shop and supporting a true artist.
Last week I got a little hair cut. I decided to go for the bangs, although I slightly regretted it at first, but now I am happy with my decision.
I went from this:
Oh, supppper serious haha
To this:
I’m still trying to get the hang of having bangs again, which has involved pinning them a few times, but nonetheless I’m thinking that they are a good, summery change.
Awhile back I spotted this extra cute DIY headband post on the Seablanket blog. After seeing the post I immediately felt the urge to pull out my crafting supplies and create something cute. The results:
Before I left Phoenix my friend Ashley told me about this awesome craft store in downtown Denver, Colorado. Since I knew I would be going to Denver at least once this summer I asked for her to write down the name of the store so I wouldn’t forget.
About two weeks later I’m in Denver, Colorado trying to navigate myself through one way streets, and confusing street signs in order to get to Fancy Tiger. Only a few minutes after I landed in downtown I was parking down the street from the store (25 cents for an hours worth of parking? That’s amazing!) and becoming overwhelmingly excited.
Fancy Tiger is positioned on a corner of a cute neighborhood filled with antique stores, bookstores, and restaurants.
Their window displays were the best, full of cute monsters!
Spot the cozy on the leg of the table? They were on everything!
So excited to be here!
The inside was just amazing, and full of all kinds of crafting supplies.
I ended up buying $40 of stuff. Here is some of my loot:
I’m really excited to use the sublime stitching patterns, but I’m a bit confused-maybe you can help? Do you iron the side that is darkened with the pattern, or the other where it is barely visible?
Overall, it was a great visit and I’m super glad that I was able to go.
Do you have any neat craft stores in your town? What are they like?
…got a haircut, bought a cute book, got a dirty iced chai from my favorite coffee shop in Glenwood Springs, CO, and missed my boyfriend incredibly much.
Also, if you happen to be in downtown Phoenix for First Friday’s tonight, be sure and stop by Butter Toast Boutique-Scott will be selling his beautiful, handmade lamps/lights there!
A few days ago I made a stop in the local shop here in Avon, Colorado- Loaded Joe’s.
Last year I came to this coffee shop/bar in hope of finding a good sugar-free latte. I remeber sitting down with my ipod, and notebook as well, listening to music and taking notes on the my drink (I used to keep a daily coffee log).
This year my experience was a little different, as I had an iced americano, and the shop was much quieter.
I also took in some really lovely artwork while I was there (the artist’s name escapes me right now).
Have you been to any neat coffee shops lately? Do you have a favorite coffee shop?
