A little Saturday inspiration…

05.08.10
A little inspiration to brighten your day:
Recently I discovered Butter Toast, a darling boutique nestled along 6th street in downtown Phoenix. Butter Toast carries amazing vintage clothing (for him and her), and also has a variety of handmade goodies, and vintage goods as well.
On Thursday Scott and I went to Butter Toast Boutique and met Ashley, who own’s Merry May Handmade (a cute craft/vintage shop that’s inside Butter Toast). Ashley was super sweet and invited Scott and I to stop by the store’s grand opening, which is today. So if you’re in the Phoenix area you should definitely stop by Butter Toast (908 N. 6th Street) for the day’s festivities (bake sale, music, vintage sale, oh my!). If you can’t make it out, and even if you can, you should definitely check out Ashley’s blog, and also the Butter Toast website!
I also have a little warm weather/dress inspiration for you! I am loving these two beautiful summer dresses from Anthro:
Oh, and who can forget about summer read? I just purchased this book on Amazong (for $10!) and can’t wait to receive it in the mail:

Be back in a bit with an update on my daily life!

& in the morn’ work takes her to Maine…

05.07.10
This morning I got up extra early (5:45 a.m) and drove down to Phoenix to take a test for my Media Law class. Before started my test though I stopped by Lola Coffee for a large iced americano to jump start my morning. I have to say though, it felt nice to get up extra early and already be downtown before the morning rush.
I know I said the next time I would be back it would be with something cute, but since I’m on school computers and don’t have access to pictures from the last few days, I took these photos on the huge Mac screens here and put together a little collage for you:

Tonight Scott and I are going to First Friday’s in downtown Phoenix and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m pretty sure we’ll stick around Grand Ave., but probably stop by Roosevelt as well (where I hope to pick up a yummy dessert from Tammie Coe Cakes).
Ok, be back later with an inspirational post.

A quick hello:

05.05.10
Just wanted to stop in and say hello. Today I’ve been super busy with school (studying, making appointments, making lists, having a pizza party in English Lit), and sporadically felt like my chest was going to explode. Oh anxiety/stress, we are not friends!
This morning I did go to Lola Coffee on 3rd Ave. in Phoenix for a lovely iced americano:

Ok, back to the grind. Be back tomorrow with something cute!

Birthday day!

05.04.10
First off, I wanted to start by saying thank you SO much to everyone that wished me happy birthday and well wishes yesterday. You guys have NO idea how much each and every comment made my day. Thank you all so, so much! I seriously have THE best readers<3
Anyways, my special day started off in Cottonwood, Arizona with my parents. We had mint chocolate chip ice cream cake (my absolute favorite), and took cute pictures with my new Fuji Instax.

The mother of all gifts though was this beautiful antique Underwood typewriter. I’ve been wanting one for years and Scott completely surprised me with it. Apparently he’s had it for awhile now, and picked it up at a antique store a few weeks ago. He certainly did his research on this one and picked me out THE best typewriter (literally, it’s the Cadillac of typewriters, and you can still buy ink strips for it). I am so, so thankful for my beautiful typewriter, and so excited to writer numerous letters on it!

All in all, my birthday was wonderful and I appreciate each and everyone that wished me happy birthday, and that was involved in my special day.
Ok, back resting and watching The Real Housewives of NJ!

A post dedicated to coffee

05.03.10

In honor of my special day, I wanted to do a little post about one of my very favorite things: COFFEE.

To start off, here are a few photos of the lovely beverage (coffee and espresso based drinks included):

(Source: weheartit, Tyler’s Tumblr, A Beautiful Mess, my own.)

Next, I wanted to list my top 5 favorite (and maybe your’s as well) coffee/espresso based drinks:

1. Americano ( espresso + water, current favorite, iced or hot.)
2. Latte (espresso + milk +flavoring if you would like. Iced or hot.)
3. Dirty Chai (chai latte + shots of espresso. I only enjoy mine iced.)
4. Drip Coffee (brewed coffee, iced or hot.)
5. Cappuccino (espresso + a tiny bit of milk + lots of foam. Hot always please!)

Lastly, I wanted to encourage everyone try new coffee shops, new drinks, and new techniques of making coffee. There are handfuls of adorable coffee shops out there in the world just waiting to be discovered. Every week or so I try to go to at least one new coffee shop (there are quite a few around my college), or a shop that I haven’t been to in awhile.

I always enjoy trying new drinks, although my taste in drinks have become less, and less sweet over the years so I usually stick with something that doesn’t contain a lot of sugars, but exploring is always fun and is a great way to figure out what kind of coffee/espresso based drinks you like the most. And finally, don’t be frightened to make your own coffee. There are dozens of ways to make drip coffee (coffee makers, french presses, AeroPresses, Chemex coffee makers) and each way offers a new experience, and generally a different taste. So don’t be scared to venture out on your own and try something new. Next time your in a coffee shop, might I suggest that you ask for a french press pot of coffee (generally will serve between 2-8 cups depending on the size) and enjoy my favorite way of making (and drinking) drip coffee.

Ok, back to spending time with my family!

PS What’s your favorite coffee drink? Not a coffee drinker? What kind of tea do you like (if so)? Favorite brewing method of coffee?

It’s here – 22!

05.02.10

Good morning loves,

This morning at 12 a.m. I turned 22 (well, actually it really shouldn’t be until 4:25 p.m., but hey, I’ll take the whole day). Today I am going to spend some time with my parents before heading down back to the valley, then the rest of my evening will be spent with my grandma and Scott. I’m thinking that we’ll go to Green for dinner (yes, I’m going to take my grandma to a vegan restaurant), and maybe eat some dessert too (soynamis).
I hope everyone has a wonderful day, and check back later for a super sweet giveaway!
