ONTO THE WEEKEND — 10

08.13.17

Hello from the states! After 18 hours of travel, Scott and I arrived back in Phoenix on Thursday evening with full hearts and and a heavy dose of wanderlust. We truly couldn’t be more grateful for this once in a lifetime experience, and look forward to telling our future kids and grandkids about our time in #London and #Paris in the years to come.

Since stepping foot back in our home (laying in our own bed felt sooo good), we’ve been doing our best to beat the jet lag (which is real, very real) and starting to get our home and everyday life back to a normal pace. We’re mostly unpacked and situated once again, but I’m still finding myself wanting to greet people with “Bonjour” and thank them with a heavy dose of “Merci,” haha. I’m sure it will all fade away here shortly, the jet lag and word choice that is, but until then — here’s a few posts and pieces that caught my eye this week —

— I really enjoyed Household Mag’s recent weekend post that featured all things road trip! While our next long haul road trip isn’t anytime soon, I loved reading her suggestions and took notes to look back on in the future. Now, if only I could get Scott on the podcast bandwagon — one day!

— My rad friend, Nicole, recently shared her thoughts on not waiting for permission and I couldn’t love + needed her encouragement more!

— Bethany Menzel’s bedroom update is pretty dreamy! Wouldn’t you agree? xo

— Raise your hand if you’ve tried the Levi Wedgie fit jeans? I’m in the market for a new pair of “mum jeans” and I’ve been hearing such good things about this pair! Let a gal know if you have!

— Visiting the Sezane Library was a highlight for me of our time in Paris! The shop itself was stunning and the staff treated us to a hot espresso right on the spot! This classic bag from their collection may have come home with us — just maybe! 😉

— Fall is officially 40 days away and Tieka is giving off ALL the autumn vibes in this darling post! I know it’s going to be still hot here in 40 days, but for now I’m going to pretend that cooler weather is on its way and that PSL season is almost here!

#CENTSOFSTYLEWALL

08.08.17

The #CentsOfStyleWall is well known for being Insta famous, in fact — I’m sure you’ve seen a photo from this colorful wall a time or two around the interwebs (it’s a popular spot for photoshoots, road trip pit stops and for the actual production of the Cents of Style blog + shop). So when Scott and I were booking our tickets to SLC to visit family for the 4th of July, I told him that visiting this popular spot was top priority (that sounds a bit silly, but seriously — I’ve been talking about coming here for what feels like forever). So on the second day of our trip, we made it happen! The results? Well, take a peek below to see!

The wall is full of colorful combinations, but by far my favorite was the yellow and millennial pink duo!

Scott and I spent only a few minutes at this colorful place, but boy did we have fun — nothing like a bright wall to inspire a little fun and laughter! The wall itself is actually at the very back of an industrial park, in fact — I was pretty sure we had passed it until we got to the very end of the driveway and saw this bright view to the left. There were a few other cars that pulled up while we were there, but they were super sweet to give us our few minutes along the wall and then jump on in while we were walking back to our car. If you’re ever in the SLC area, I would definitely suggest checking out this cheerful wall and snapping a few photos! I hope ya’ll are having a great day and I’ll be back soon!

BONJOUR FROM PARIS!

08.06.17

Bonjour! After five nights in London, we hopped on a Eurostar train headed for Paris. Neither Scott nor I have been to Paris before, so we’re thrilled to be experiencing this city together for the very first time. I’ll admit that my French is a bit rusty, as the last time I was in France was almost 10 years ago, but we’re both trying our hardest and learning the ways of the french — espresso for days, patio seating always and that taking a break in the many gardens around the city is never a bad idea.

Aside from all things, after making our way to our hotel Friday afternoon, we spent the evening getting our bearings and experiencing the first few stops on our list — the Eiffel Tower, Arc De Triomphe, Champs Elysees and Laduree. We ended our night with a little stroll back to our hotel and a showing of Midnight in Paris (when in Paris, right?). We’ve since spent two full days in this magical city taking in all the sights, sounds and crepes of Paris! Tomorrow we’re off to the Louvre, but until then — it’ time to get some rest! I feel like we’re finally over our jet lag, but then again — I did take an hour long nap on our way to and from the French countryside today!

Au revoir, copains!

HELLO FROM LONDON!

08.03.17

Well, hello there! We arrived in London four days ago after jumping the pond on an overnight flight from Phoenix. We landed in London on Sunday afternoon and were welcomed to this beautiful city with a bit of sunshine (and thankfully not the cold and rain we were planning for). After grabbing our luggage, we hopped in a cab headed for Soho where we would be resting our heads for the next five nights — the sights and feelings that hit me on the drive there are something that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

Scott and I truly couldn’t be more excited and thankful to be here and have loved every second of our time spent exploring these beautiful streets + all the culture that London holds — from the traditional Sunday roast we had on our first evening at Percy & Founders, to the two hour afternoon tea we experienced at Sketch, to stepping back in time at the Tower of London + so, so much more. Our trip has been a whirlwind and we couldn’t love it here more! We’re starting the second leg of our journey tomorrow with a train ride to Paris — ECK! We have a few things planned for our time there, but would love any suggestions you may have! Merci, sweet friends!

AROUND OUR HOME — 12

07.31.17

Happy Monday! The end of July is here! This month was, yet again, another whirlwind! We started off the beginning of the month in SLC where we celebrated the 4th with family and enjoyed a little break from the hot, hot, heat. From here, the rest of the month was a whirlwind — we prepped for a big home shoot (more on that later!), worked through more of our travel plants, had a pop-up shop for Citizen Home Decor at the Phoenix West Elm, hosted our dear friend, Dawn, and made a whole lot of Christmas ornaments and coasters. It was a busy one, but by far one of our best months of the year!

We ended the month by boarding a jet plane and hopping the pond to London, England! We’ll be here for a few days exploring the city, taking in the sights and drinking lots of tea + coffee before we head on over to Paris for a few days – ECK! Anyways, ready for a few peeks into our home during the month of July? Without further ado –

— Scott and I recently purchased this wood and marble side table from West Elm after humming and hawing on what to put in this space for what feels like ages (there was a tall plant stand + hanging plant here previously)! The side table has been on my wish list forever (along with the matching coffee table), and I am SO happy with how well it complements this space. PS Here’s a few tips on how to style a photo ledge – like the one we have pictured here!

— Our vintage Mid-Century dresser is looking mighty fine stacked with fresh flowers, art work and our favorite trinkets and treasures. The blue and white bowling pin was still life oil painting that Scott made while in college, and the Dala horse was a gift from my folks from their trip to Sweden last year. While both have pieces that have such different meanings and memories associated to them, they’re equally as special in my book.

— A peek at my home office where I can usually be found Mondays and Fridays, working away and sipping on iced coffee. I actually didn’t spend a whole lot of time in here this month, but it’s always a space that I know I can rely on to be peaceful and quiet (perfect for those work from home days)! Also, in case you’re curious — my desk is from West Elm and I love, love, love it!

How was your July? It seemed to go by so fast around here! We were just in Salt Lake City, and now we’re in London — SO crazy! And now August is almost here and we’re starting the month the most amazing way we know how — traveling abroad and fulfilling our teenage dreams of seeing the Eiffel Tower together, awwwh!

Hope you have an incredible week, friends! I promise to post here as often as possible, but don’t forget that you can follow along on our London + Paris adventures on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook! Here’s to an amazing one!

Happy Friday, friends! How was your week? Scott and I gearing up to take off on our trip and I can’t believe the day is almost here! We’ve been dreaming of going to London and Paris together since we were teenagers, and it’s crazy to think that it’s actually all happening! If you have any recommendations for either city, we are ALL ears! Coffee shops, restaurants, cute shops — please tell me about your favorite places (or even just about the ones you read about online!).  Aside from the exciting that’s bubbling up over here, here’s a few links that I think you’ll enjoy —

— My best friend’s wedding is featured on Rock N Roll Bride – ECK! Courtney and Sanford’s wedding was a dream and I feel so honored to have been a part of it! Give the post a peek, friends!

— My rad friend, Tonya, recently shared her desert getaway to Joshua Tree Acres and the photos are INSANE! Dawn + Tonya make an amazing team!

— We’re heading to Sketch next week and I am SO excited! And for reals — if you have any favorite coffee shops, restaurants, stores, etc. — please send them my way!

— Have I ever told you guys that two of best friend owns a really rad t-shirt business? Check out Mom Shirt Co here

— The Nordstrom sale is still in full swing and I recently made a few purchases there for our trip, including this top and a Madewell sweater that doesn’t seem to be online now — but this one is super similar and also in the sale!

— I really enjoyed really this post on a day in the life of a freelancer with Anne Sage! Anne is an amazing lady doing such rad things — give her a follow if you don’t already!

I hope ya’ll have an incredible weekend, friends! I promise to post here as often as possible, but don’t forget that you can follow along on our London + Paris adventures on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook! Here’s to an amazing one!

FIVE PODCASTS TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY

07.26.17

You may not know this about me, but I am a HUGE podcast lover! Home Decor, Small Business, Pop Culture, etc. — I listen to all types of podcasts and can be usually be found listening to new (or well loved episodes) any time during the work week. I also love nothing more than discovering a new podcast to binge on, so I thought it would be fun to share a few of my daily/recent favorites! Curious as to what podcasts I listen to when I’m in need of a little pick-me-up? Well, here’s the low-down —

At Home With… – I’ve been a fan of Anna and Lily for years, so when I heard that they were putting out a podcast — I might have let out a squeal! Perfect for anyone who loves a good nosey around someone’s home and learning about new products (food, beauty and more) from the best in the business!

Munchin With Moguls – A recent, but well loved addition to my podcast line-up! I’ve loved listening to these laid back conversations from some of my favorite influencers and small business owners.

The Lively Show – A longtime favorite of mine that has covered so many different topics during its lifespan. The host, Jess, has also been traveling the world for the past year+ and right now she’s in London — a place I hear is perfect to visit this time of year. 😉

Breakfast For Dinner – Another favorite that I’ve been listening to just as long as the above — Nicole and Dago have a way of making you feel like you’re right there with them as they chat about pop culture, world news and their everyday life!

My Favorite Murder – Ok, I can see how this one might not brighten your day (it is about murders, after all), but the humor between the two hosts is something that can’t be replicated! If you love a mystery, a bit of horror and listening to just a good old chat — I think you’re going to love this one!

Bonus! The Heart of It – The latest project from YouTube guru Estee Lalonde just launched and I’m stoked to give it a good listen in the coming weeks. Check out her first episode (live now!) and let me know what you think!

Alright, now it’s your turn to spill the beans! Do you listen to podcasts? Have a favorite one that you can never miss an episode of? Let a gal know, as I’m always in need of more podcasts to get hooked on!

FOR THE HOME — 05 // FAVORITE SHOPS TO BUY BEDDING FROM

07.24.17

When it comes to new bits and pieces for our home, bedding is something that I LOVE to look for! Whether it’s online or in-store, I love taking a peek at the what’s new, what’s in the sale and how other folks are rating each piece. It might sound silly, but I love reading reviews, feeling each piece and really getting the full scoop before deciding to bring it into our home. When we first moved in, I spent weeks trying to pick the perfect bedding set for our new space! After reading way too many reviews, I ended up purchasing this set from Urban Outfitters – which is still available and has held up so well for us! Since this purchase, we’ve also bought this set from West Elm (which is SO lovely), and even more recently this linen beauty that I’ve had my eye on for ages! With all that said, I know that bedding can be so personal, but if you’re like me — you find it super fun just to poke around and see what’s new, even if you’re not currently in the market for a new set.

In case you’re on the hunt for new bedding of your own, or just want to browse, here’s a few of my favorite shops to browse + buy bedding from —

I would love to hear if you have any bedding favorites? Do you like light pieces for summer and darker bedding for the fall and winter months? I’m pretty into our light duvet covers + shams, but love a good chunky and warm blanket to place on top of our bed for those colder moths! Anyways, I hope ya’ll have a great week and I’ll be back soon!

ONTO THE WEEKEND — 08

07.23.17

Happy Sunday, friends! How has your weekend been? Scott and I had our pop-up shop with Citizen Home Decor at the Phoenix West Elm Location yesterday, which was so much fun! We’ve also been working feverishly on errands, house cleaning and more bits and pieces that we’ve got to get done before we leave for our trip (one week from yesterday – ECK). Aside from that, here’s a few links + stories that I spotted this week and think you’ll enjoy —

— Ya’ll, Scott and I recently purchased these linen duvet cover from West Elm and I feel like I can’t say enough good things about it! Perfect for these hot summer nights we’ve been having!

— In need of a new summer lipstick? I recently shared six summery shades that I’ve been loving, and I have a hunch that you’ll love a few of these as well!

— Our sweet friends at Keep It Wild recently launched their National Parks collection! You can find the Grand Canyon shirt I’m wearing above, along with lots of over rad designs, here!

— My sweet friend, Nicole, recently shared this staycation ready look — hoping I can borrow the inspiration for our upcoming vacation!

— I am SO excited to visit the Sezane locations while we’re in Paris! If you have any suggestions of any other shops we should visit while we’re there or in London — please let a gal know! 😉

I hope everyone is having an amazing weekend, and I’ll be back soon!
