WHITE CHRISTMAS

12.23.14

Well, Christmas is a day away and it looks like this crisp, white sweater is the closest thing I’m going to get to a white Christmas! While I love, love my city, sometimes I wish we had the occasional snowfall –  not just the freak, once-every-five-years kind of snowfall that makes national news (I believe the last time that happened was in 2008, so I guess we’re due for another one, aren’t we!). Anyways, today is my last day of work for a whole eight days and I am stoked for a little holiday vaca and time spent at home with my family and friends.

Tonight, Scott and I are meeting up with two of our best friends to exchange gifts and hopefully have some hot coffee (or hot coco) and some Christmas cookies too. Scott has been working like a little worker bee for days now with my mom to make and decorate cookies (and my grandma’s famous fudge) for family and friends near and far — I’ve been helping too, but I think I’m done more snacking then decorating — oops! 😉 Ok, Im out for now, but I hope ya’ll have a lovely day and a very happy holiday if I don’t talk to you until after Christmas!
What’s your favorite holiday tradition? Mine is baking/decorating cookies and doing our advent calendar!

HOLIDAY READY WITH FREE PEOPLE

12.22.14

Happy Holidays, lovelies! Today I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ve partnered with Free People, one of my favorite brands EVER, for a couple of fun holiday and winter collaborations – the first being my go-to holiday party look in a classic Free People dress. Right now, there are so many lovely dresses in their shop, but this Swinging 60’s dress really caught my eye – I love the bell sleeves, the lacy trim and low dipped back. I decided to pair this little black dress with a bold lip, gold trimmed bangles, a dainty gold necklace and a fresh pine crown to top off the whole look.

This romantic frock is definitely something I would wear to a family get-together, a holiday celebration with friends or a fancy dinner with my co-workers and boss. I love how versatile it is (so many ways to dress it up) and how appropriate it is for all occasions – perfect for all the celebrations that come along with the holiday season. If you’re still looking for a Christmas dress, or a lacy New Year’s Eve frock – this baby should be first on your list!

Now that the weekend has passed, I have two days of work left and then over a week off for the holidays. Since our families live close by we won’t be traveling for any of this year’s festivities, but do hope to make it up north after Christmas for some colder weather and hopefully a little fun in the snow (fingers crossed!).

I would love to hear about your go-to holiday party look, so leave a comment below letting me know. Also, don’t forget to give FP a follow on their social sites (Twitter, Instagram, blog) – you won’t be disappointed.

HOLLY JOLLY

12.19.14

Have a holly jolly Chris— I mean, hello! How’s it going there? Sorry I’ve been a little MIA around here – this week has been just nuts. Between working late, wrapping Christmas presents, watching way too  many episodes of Gilmore Girls and finding the most amazing Christmas house with Scott and Rob and Christina, I’ve been falling asleep most nights before I can even open my computer (for real, ask my husband – haha). Busyness aside, I am absolutely stoked that Christmas is only a week away. I know I say this every year, but it’s amazing how quickly this magical season goes by. Wasn’t it just Thanksgiving? I guess I’ll just be cherishing every moment I can while it’s still here! Hohoho! 😉

It has been extra chilly in Phoenix the past few days – just in time for Christmas, ya know! It’s so nice to finally be able to bundle up every morning and drink hot coffee non-stop (and maybe some hot coco too).  I’m seriously looking forward to the weekend, though, and being able sleep in until it’s light out. I also have a very short work week next week, and then a handful of days off the following week. It’s going to be the best. Anyways, I’m off to watch more episodes of Gilmore Girls and maybe paint my nails. I’m thinking bright red for the holidays! Happy Thursday, loves!

#MOMENTSOFCHIC

12.15.14

Happy Monday, darlings! Today I’ve teamed up with Piperlime for another round of their #MomentsOfChic campaign to showcase two lovely pieces from their fall line. This marbled sweater (on super sale right now!) has been on non-stop rotation lately, especially during the last few days when I’ve need a few extra layers to keep warm. I’m also in love the color of these J brand skinnies – I’m usually not one for colored jeans, but these are too perfect not to love.

I can’t believe how quickly the weekend went by! On Saturday, I co-hosted a baby “sprinkle” for one of my dearest friends, and Scott had a booth for Citizen Home Decor at a local craft fair. During the evening we did a little Christmas shopping and picked up dinner to-go at one of our favorite local restaurants, Chop Shop Co (Scott has his handmade ornaments for sale at their Chandler location now!). On Sunday, we went out for bagels and coffee and then did a little cleaning around the house. During the afternoon and evening we attended a holiday food drive hosted by our sweet friends, Rob and Christina of New Darlings, and then went home to take some photos, eat dinner and get ready for the week ahead. All in all, it was a pretty wonderful weekend! Today we’re back to the grind, but I’ve got my coffee and I’m all set to go for the day — anyone else with me? Heading out the door now and it’s brrrrr chilly outside!

DECEMBER IN THE SOUTHWEST

It’s December 11th and it was 70 degrees outside today – WOW! While we may be in the Christmas spirit around here – Christmas tree up, presents wrapped and under the tree – Phoenix hasn’t quite caught the memo just yet. Truth be told, I’m not going to let that get me down, though. The holidays are my favorite time of year and this year is extra special because it’s Scott and I’s first married Christmas AND I have a brand new niece to celebrate with. This weekend, I have major plans to finish my shopping up (fingers crossed) AND take part in all the holiday festivities I can – Christmas lights, hot coco drinking, cookie baking, present wrapping and more.

TEA TALK X ZAPPOS FOR THE HOLIDAYS

12.10.14

Hello! Today I’ve teamed up with Zappos once again for another fun post! This time around, my challenge was to style up the same two pieces from my last Zappos featured post – a pair of Paige denim jeans and Freebird boots – but with a holiday twist! Since most of the holiday gatherings I usually attend are pretty low-key, I decided to go with a festive, but casual look. It’s crazy to think how close we are to Christmas and New Year’s already, so I’m definitely trying to savor ever jolly, Christmas magic filled moment! I’m actually still working on my shopping and have been browsing around Zappos for the perfect present for a few special people in my life. They have best selection of shoes, clothing, accessories and more, so I know I’m bound to find something awesome for my loved ones! Also, a huge bonus is that they have fast shipping – perfect during the holiday rush!

A little life update — this week has yet again been another busy week, but, I’ve gotten to spend some time with my new, teeny, tiny niece – she’s 2 lbs 15 oz and so, so feisty! She was 10 weeks early, but she just couldn’t wait any longer to be with us. Momma and baby are both doing very well, though, so I’m incredibly thankful for that! Anyways, tonight Scott and I are going to see Jenny Lewis and Ryan Adams and I absolutely can’t wait!

What does the rest of your week hold?

FROM THE DESERT TO THE COAST

12.03.14

Outfit details:
Banana Republic cardigan
Dress from Selective Potential’s closet
Nordstrom Rack leggings
Sam Edelman booties
As you’re reading this, I may or may not be on a jet plane to the coast – the west coast, that is. I’m headed to San Diego for a two-day work retreat with my entire agency (about twenty or so of us). So for the next few days I’ll be working hard with my team in the conference room of a very swanky hotel, and hopefully also spending some time by the ocean, breathing in the salty waves and dipping my toes in the freezing waters of the Pacific Ocean. The last time I was in California, Scott and I were newlyweds exploring the beautiful city of San Francisco – crazy to think that that was almost a whole year ago. This time around, I’m flying solo of sorts, but wishing hard that he was here with me. Until my arrival back in the valley of the sun, I hope you won’t mind a few beachy photos here and there. If you’re interested, you can catch up with me on this salty journey on Twitter and on Instagram (waves splashing and all). Also, if you have any San Diego coffee shop suggestions, PLEASE send them my way! This lady is definitely going to need her coffee!
