Off of Central Avenue in downtown Phoenix there is the most creepy underpass. I’ve always been a fan of overpasses (thank you Brand New and anyone who catches my drift on that one), but the thought of walking through this underpass gave me the heebie jeebies. However, I am incredibly in love with the photos we took in there. Thank you, Sarah, for making me face my fear and for taking such amazing photos. XO
My most favorite thing about Colorado is all the rivers and lakes they have here. Back at home we’re landlocked (which I don’t mind), so it’s nice to have the chance to spend some time watching natures take it’s course as it tips and turns around each river bend that I stumble upon.
This little spot right next to the river is one of my favorite places in Avon, Colorado. It’s right behind a giant ski resort, which in the summertime is quiet and full of blooming flowers and rushing water around each side.
Lately I’ve been going for quite simple looks. I usually end up piling on different layers throughout the day though as the temperature starts to drop. Last night it was in the 30’s, and the other morning it was in the 30’s too! What’s a girl from Phoenix to do with all of these cool temperatures? Good thing I love fall and winter wear all year round!
Right now I’m in dire need of an iced coffee and a good walk! Earlier the car I was driving broke down and it left me stranded for a few hours (thank goodness family was nearby and for AAA), so I’m still feeling a little frazzled from that. Here’s to a more positive evening!
What are you up to today? Do you have a favorite river or lake you like to go to?
Scott and I really love a good lunch date. Recently, NCounter in Tempe has quickly become one of our favorite breakfast and lunch spots, and I honestly have no idea why it took us so long to try it out!
Their veggie mushroom sandwich is unlike anything I’ve tried before. It’s really creamy, and so filling! Scott really likes their turkey sandwich as well!
Now that I’m in Colorado, I’ve been challenging myself to come up with unique lunches. What’s your favorite lunch dish? Happy Sunday, friends! -Chelsea xo
Before I left Phoenix for the summer I had to get my Lola Coffee fixed. Never in my life have I had a better iced than from Lola, so I knew it was a must have before I began my summer of coffee shop jumping.
It was a rare cool day in Phoenix and Scott and I sat out on the patio in front of Lola. I love this little part of town so much, and really enjoyed taken in my favorite city with an iced coffee in hand, my sweet guy at my side, and a pretty view of the cityscape.
Is there somewhere that you absolutely have to go anytime you’re in town, or just about to leave town? XO
The sweetness of these photos is making my heart swell so big. I’m so thankful to have such an amazing partner in life. I can’t wait to get all of these printed! I really want a large version of the first photo. Thank you for such sweet memories, Arrow and Apple.
Do you remember when you were a kid and how you always wanted to have a “summer project”? Whether it be reading so many books, learning to do something you didn’t know how to do before, or to become better at something that you already loved. Well, I’ve decided that this summer I need a summer project. Something that is attainable, and something that I can do on my own.
With that said, I’ve decided that I really want to work on this little blog of mine. I want to put everything I can into this, and truly let my passion for blogging, photography, and life shine through. I just really want to give this place of mine my all, and be more involved in the blogosphere and surrounding media outlets more than ever. I have a feeling this will be really good for my soul, and will hopefully calm my nerves about being away from home for the summer.
Back in May Scott and I were very fortunate to have our photo(s) taken by our sweet friend Sarah of Arrow and Apple. We recently received our amazing photos from Sarah, and I’ve just been bursting at the seems to share them with you. We took a handful of photos throughout multiple locations in downtown Phoenix, so I thought I would try and split up our photos by location here on the blog. This first set is one of my favorites, and I just love seeing Scott’s sweet face and that pretty mosaic wall.
Sarah is using this photo on her business cards! We feel so honored!
A few weeks back I had the pleasure of playing co-host at the Madewell Summer Style Session in Scottsdale. I was asked to pick out my favorite pieces for the summer season, and create a few looks that I would love to rock.
These were all my picks for the evening! I absolutely love the style, and quality of Madewell clothing. Their garments are truly classic pieces that I can see myself wearing for a long time to come.
There was a neat DJ at our event! This girl was jamming the beats all evening!
And of course we had some sips and snacks that evening. Courtney picked up THE famous Tami Coe Cake sour cream cookies, and some San Pellegrino.
We had some really sweet guests stop by! I swear, I love how supportive the arts community in Phoenix (and the surrounding cities) is. Thanks for coming by Ashley, Katherine, and Brittany!
Courtney played a really great co-host for the evening! I’m so thankful to have her as a friend, and so proud of her for rocking her position at Madewell so amazingly! I’m missing Courtney big time right now and already can’t’ wait to see her in August! Thank you so much for inviting me to such a lovely evening, Courtney and the Madewell family!
What are you up to today? Have you ever checked out a Madewell before?
More than a week into this summer adventure, I’m still adjusting. Every day is a little different, and sometimes because of that frustration gets the best of me. I like to think that I’m quite good at spending time alone and being more on my own, but in reality, I’m terrible at it. Lately I’ve really been finding a lot of inspiration in Elise Blaha Cripe’s blog posts about being apart from her husband while he was deployed, and although Scott and I’s situation is quite different, I find comfort and joy in reading her stories (the good and the bad).
With that said, I am doing well and searching for joy in each and every day. I don’t want this post to seem like some sad sop, but rather a real moment that I just needed to share (for maybe it can comfort someone else, just like Elise’s posts have done for myself).
If you have any thoughts on spending time apart from a loved one, I would love to hear them.
Last night I received the most amazing email from my sweet friend Sarah! The email had a link in it to the photos that she so kindly took of Scott and I right after my birthday last month. I most definitely squealed as I flipped through the photos, overwhelmed with how incredible they turned out. The above photo was the first one I saw from the set, taken in from of Scott and I’s favorite coffee shop in downtown Phoenix. I absolutely LOVE the photo, and how it represents Scott and I so well.
I promise to share the whole set of photos very soon. Thank you so, so much Sarah for such an amazing gift that we will treasure forever!
Have you ever had professional photos taken before? Do you live local? If so, I know Sarah is free this summer and would love to photograph you! She is seriously a dream to work with!
It’s Saturday! Do you have any plans today? I’m hoping to make it down to the Teva Mountain Games down in Vail!
