ABC 12 Part 2

05.09.12
The second half of the Arizona Blogger Conference involved our amazing panel, and extra time to mingle with sweet attendees. I was SUPER nervous about speaking in front of some many people (100+), so Sarah and I took a nice walk around the outside of the hotel to give our speeches to one another and get all of our nerves out.
Before all of the attendees came into the conference room the speakers had a few moments to sit, calm their nerves, get their powerpoints ready, and talk with the other speakers. I was an absolute ball of nerves during this time, and it only got worse once I could hear everyone waiting to come in. Once the doors did open, I took a big breath and just remembered that all I could do was speak from my heart and my own experiences.

Sarah absolutely rocked her presentation that night! She had the whole room laughing, and was really just a great ball of charm and energy. I really loved her presentation, and was so proud of her for doing so well!
When my turn came I stood up and just went for it. I had a small little piece of paper with a few notes on it for me to remember my main points, and just spoke from the heart for the rest of it. In all honesty, I kind of blacked out while up there. I was SO nervous, but I tried to talk slow and really speak from my own experiences. It really was quite surreal seeing my blog up there on the big screen!
All of our speakers did SO well, and it was SO great hearing about their stories and what blogging means to them. Thank you so much Margaree of Local First Arizona, Georganne of Frances and Smeeks, Katie of Running on Happiness, and Sarah of Arrow and Apple. You guys really rocked the panel!
After the panel was over we had handed out raffle prizes, ate some delicious fries, and spent some time to mingle with our very sweet attendees. My amazing friend Adrianna, who owns the beautiful online shop Le Mode Accessories, was kind enough to come down from California to spend the evening with us! She also donated the most amazing necklaces for our goodie bags! Thank you SO much for everything, Adrianna!
And as the night came to a close I thought about everything that had happened during the past few hours. What an amazing evening it was! I truly feel so blessed to be a part of the Arizona Blogger Conference, and can’t wait to see what the coming months have in store for The Phoenix Style Collective. Thank you so much again to everyone who came out, and to everyone who had a part in making this event happen! We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s love and support!

ABC 12 Part 1

05.08.12

The Arizona Blogger Conference couldn’t have turned out any better, honestly. The whole night ran as smooth as I could have ever hoped for, and it was SO amazing to see something that we had all put so much time and effort into finally come to life.

I’m SO thankful for all of my Phoenix Style Collective members. Thank you so much Josh, Katherine, Courtney, and Kara for all the hard work you put into our event. I’m so thankful that we’re all on the same team!
I am also SO thankful for Scott and all of the hard work, love, and support he put into our event. Thank you so much my love, I couldn’t have done it without you!
I was so, so happy to have Sarah with us through the whole event! She really knows how to bring charm and excitement into a room (she absolutely rocked her speech on our panel later that night!).

The Saguaro hotel was kind enough to donate an amazing space for the blogger conference. I’m absolutely in love with their southwestern chic decor, and I couldn’t imagine a better space for our first blogger conference!
It was sooo nice to see so many familiar and new faces at the conference! Thanks so much to everyone who came out and took part in the festivities! Isn’t Katy and her husband Anthony so cute? I just love them!
It was so lovely having Kristine and Ashley there as well! Thank you for coming ladies!
It was also so nice to have Scott and I’s friend Gabe there! We certainly missed his amazing wife, Chanelle, but we were so happy to have him there! Hope some attendees were able to talk to him about web hosting with Go Daddy!
Scott was an amazing trooper and took photos for me the whole day and night. This one of only a few photos he (or I) got of him that night. Thanks darling for taking such wonderful photos of this happy event!

Everyone was sporting these neat color wraps during the conference! Kristen looks so cute with hers!

The Agency Arizona was kind enough to showcase a few model poses for us!
We had some delicious pickled veggies crostinis during the first half of the event for all of the attendees to snack on! I swear, The Saguaro makes THE best pickled beets!
Sarah looked SO cute in her denim vest!
Did I mention how amazing The Saguaro is? I’m in love with all of the accent walls surrounding the hotel!
We were really fortunate to have some amazing vendors set up during the first half of the event! The Madewell table looked amazing, and I wanted each and every piece featured on it!
Danielle of Rumble & Spur had THE most amazing necklaces for sale! She is one talented lady!
We were all so thankful to have Ugglebo Clogs as a sponsor for the event! Us ladies in the collective are HUGE fans of Ugglebo, and loved that we could work with them so closely even thought they weren’t able to attend. Thank you SO much Fredrik and Ugglebo Clogs for everything! Also, today is the last day to use the coupon discount code for the Ugglebog Clogs website that all attendees got in their goodie bags! Don’t miss out!
Have I mentioned yet how amazing it was to have The Coffee Chop at the conference? I am SO thankful that Kara worked her magic and welcomed them to the event. I’m pretty sure most of our attendees had some sort of coffee buzz going the whole night (I know I did!), and I think it was so great to have everyone be able to learn a little about latte art! Thank you so much Coffee Chop for keeping us all well caffeinated with delicious drinks throughout the night! I sure hope we can have you at our next event!

Ok, I’m going to be back soon with the second half, and final half of the event!
What are you guys up to today?

Lunch at D’Lish

05.07.12
Recently Scott and I tried a new (to the area) restaurant, D’Lish. The cute, organic, and iced coffee and veggie friendly restaurant is situated in a tiny building that once was a drive-thru Mexican food restaurant, and is only open for breakfast and lunch. I was really excited to try their iced coffee the first day we went there, and I have to say that I was definitely not disappointed.
D’Lish’s menus offers a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, and burritos. Scott and I had a hard time deciding on what to get, so we ended up sharing a veggie wrap and the kitchen sink salad.
This salad was HUGE, and between the both of us we could barely finish it!
The wrap had a yummy cucumber spread on it!

Overall, I’m really impressed with D’Lish and Scott and I have gone in for breakfast and lunch a handful of times since this first day. They have really awesome breakfast sandwiches, and their cactus bloom iced tea is delicious! I’m so happy to have a new, local restaurant in the area!
If you’re local, have you tried out D’Lish yet? They have another location in Scottsdale! Have you tried any new restaurants lately that you just love?

Citrus Bridge

05.05.12
Oh my, where has this week gone? It has been an absolutely wonderful week and my heart is feeling SO full. I surely want to blog about all that has been happening the past few days (and maybe a few before), but for now I want to share with you all an outfit I wore for a stroll around town that made me feel just like myself.
I’m absolutely obsessed with the layered sheerness of this top, and the lace detailing around the bottom and on the collar. This quite possible could be my favorite blouse. Perfect for the warmness of spring and summer, but also quite wearable in the fall and winter (especially around here). I really do love having such versatile pieces in my wardrobe.

These pretty Madrid clogs have also become my favorite lately. I’m in LOVE with the braiding detail, and how easy they are to walk in. Like my beloved Rio Grande clogs, these too are becoming a staple piece in my summer wardrobe. My friend Kara has the red version of these Madrids and now I’m eyeing a second pair! I swear, Ugglebo Clogs really knows how to make an amazing sandal! Anyone been thinking about getting a pair for summer?

This weekend I’m spending some time up in Cottonwood, Arizona. On my way up I stopped for pie (at the famous Rock Springs Pie Factory), and drove through a whole lot of dry brush dessert. I might have sipped a giant iced coffee all the way up here, and ate part of a giant cinnamon roll. Yep, it’s surely the weekend. What are you up to today? Did you guys have a nice week? XO

ABC 12: What I Wore

05.01.12
What does one wear to an event that they are playing co-host at? Since we’ve been planning for the blogger conference for a handful a months now, I certainly had time to figure it out my outfit, but it wasn’t until just a few weeks before our big day that I nailed down my outfit. I kew I wanted to wear something comfortable, but also something that I would feel cute in. I didn’t want to be tugging at my outfit all night, so a all-in-one piece was on my mind. A few weeks back I spotted this darling I HEART Ronson dress at Jcpenney and immediately knew this had to be the one. I mean, it does match our PSC logo (old and new)! To say it was fate would be an understatement.
The Arizona Blogger Conference was incredibly lucky to have Ugglebo Clogs as a sponsor! I decided that my Rio Grande clogs were the perfect addition to my outfit for the evening. I LOVE the criss cross braided leather, and they are extremely comfortable. No joke, I wore them for more than six hours straight and I was absolutely comfortable the whole time. I was so thankful to have such comfy shoes for an evening of running around. Thank you Ugglebo Clogs for everything!

As an extremely sweet gift my bestie Courtney had business cards made for all of the members of the Phoenix Style Collective. They are SO darling, and I’m loving the logo that Josh of a Subtle Takeover designed for us!

And to be honest, I couldn’t have made it through the night without this guy. He was my rock through all of it, and was there cheering me on when I scared out of my mind speaking in front of 90 + people! Thank you SO much my love for everything!

And this sweet lady! Doesn’t she look amazing? Courtney really is the heart and soul of the Phoenix Style Collective and I’m so thankful to be able to call her such a close friend. Thank you for keeping the evening going, and for all of the positivity you have brought into my life!
What would you wear to a big event that you were playing co-host at?

ABC 12: Getting Ready

04.30.12
First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who supported (whether in person, or in spirit), and attended the Arizona Blogger Conference this past Saturday. The event exceeded my wildest expectations, and I couldn’t have asked for a better evening. With that said, I’m going to be breaking up the ABC blog posts over the next few days and today I thought I would start with our setting up/getting ready time at The Saguaro.
A handful of us in the Phoenix Style Collective arrived at The Saguaro Hotel (Our very kind hosts!) around 1 p.m. to make sure we had enough time to set up, stuff our goodie bags, place everything exactly where we wanted it to be, guide our vendors, and get all dressed up. I’m very happy that we had this time to all be together. I think having this extra time before the conference definitely helped us all to be more focused, and to have a better handle on the rest of the evening.
The Saguaro was kind enough to let us into our space early. We each got to have a little bit of down time, and were able to charge up our phones and devices for our evening full of tweeting, instagramming, and facebooking.
I am absolutely in love with the bright, southwest inspired decor that The Saguaro has! I swear, we couldn’t have picked a better place for the conference!
Scott was such an amazing sport through the entire event! He helped set-up, make sure everything was in place, greeted guests, gave me big hugs when I was nervous, helped with the panel, and was just overall amazing. So thank you my love for everything! I couldn’t have done it without you!
Stuffing the goodie bags for our attendees was SO fun! We had the most amazing sponsors!
This awesome Madewell photo backdrop came all the way from Coachella to be with us!
Kara was reading my mind when she got us a barista for the evening. Having coffee around definitely made me feel more at ease.
Kara’s husband Ryan was such a sport and a big help at the conference. Thank you Ryan for all of your help and support!
I wanted each and every piece of Madewell clothing that we had at the conference. Oh man! Pretty sure I need to pick up a birthday dress from there soon! ECK!
If you were in attendance, please tell me about your experience! If you couldn’t make it, I would still love to hear your thoughts on the conference (I did my best to live tweet/instagram the evening).

An Addiction?

04.27.12

It’s no lie, I LOVE coffee with a passion. It all started with blended drinks from Starbucks in high school, and then I moved toward drinking sweet lattes when I met Scott (when I was 18!). Nowadays I love black iced coffee with two shots of espresso in it!

What’s your favorite coffee drink? What about your favorite summer drink?

Phoenix Style Collective Meetings

04.26.12

Ever wondered what a Phoenix Style Collective meeting looks like? Well, there usually low key, involve coffees/teas/drinks and some kind of treat or food. We like to keep our meetings casual, but we always mean business. Last nigh wet had our last meeting before the Arizona Blogger Conference to tie up a few loose ends. We are all SO excited for the event, and can’t wait for Saturday. Have you purchased your yet ticket? We’re almost sold out! Also, I wish all of my out of state and international friends could come! How amazing it would be to have my favorite bloggers all in one place! Maybe next year!

I Walk The Line

04.25.12

When I wear all black, I always feel a little like Johnny Cash. When I wear my cowboy boots, I feel even more like someone from the Southwest. It’s hard to deny my Southwest roots (even though I am a first generation Arizonian), as I love all the nostalgia that comes along with cowboy boots and the old west. Have any of you sweet readers ever been to Tombstone? It’s like a time warp there! Long live the Southwest!

When I was about 18 I told my mom over, and over again that I wanted a quality pair of boots (my last pair had plastic on them and I bought them at a town junk sale in Wyoming). That year for my birthday she surprised me with these Justins, and since then they’ve always held a special place in my heart. What’s more classic than a pair of cowboy boots? Nothing if you live in the Southwest!
If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when I take photos for Instagram, well this is pretty much it. Scott really likes taking this shot, and I think it’s pretty charming. It’s like three photos in one (after I filter it and send it to Instagram, of course).
Today I’m going to keep chugging away at those grad papers. I had a meeting with one of my professors yesterday and during the meeting she asked me that dreaded question of “what’s your background like, and what do you hope to get out of this program.” Ok, it’s not entirely dreaded per say, however, I always get to so nervous when someone asks me that one. Anyways, I told her about having my Bachelor’s in Journalism, and that I wanted to continue writing and doing public relations work in the future with my two degrees. Suddenly everything all seemed to make sense with her and she began telling me how my writing was very PR, good PR, but still PR. Bahahaha. I took it as a compliment and will be working on my academic journal writing from now on!
What are you up to today? Got your ticket for the Arizona Blogger Conference yet? It’s this Saturday! XO
