There’s this sweet copper wall hidden away in an alleyway in Phoenix. We were so excited to spot it on our walk around downtown with Sarah of Arrow & Apple. I swear, she catches the sweetest moments!
Lately I’ve been really loving the kimono trend that has been popping up this spring. Recently when Scott and I were browsing around at one of our favorite discount shops I spotted this pretty velvety kimono that practically screamed my name. I adore how flowy it is, and really love how it’s a nice transitional piece into spring and summer (even though it’s warm, I’m still all about the layers!).
Last week I asked about everyone’s makeup routine, and suggestions and what products they love. This week I’m still obsessing over eyeshadows and finding the perfect eyeliner (although, Ashley gave me some great suggestions that I can’t wait to try out!). I really love the teal eyeshadow I was wearing this day. Such a fun pop of color!
Lately I’ve been really loving these Baylee wedges from Blowfish Shoes. They are extremely comfortable, and I adore the criss-cross detail on the top. They’re a perfect wedge for spring and summer!
Today Scott and I are headed down to Southern Arizona for a few days. I’m thinking I might need to pick up some new music before we start our drive. I just might want to buy the Hunger Games soundtrack, just maybe! Oh, and I wanted to say hello to all of the new Instagram users out there! You can find my Instagram feed at: Chelseabirdd ! Hope everyone has a lovely day! XO
As mentioned last week, Scott and I recently went on a photo scouting trip with our lovely friend Sarah of Arrow & Apple. She was kind enough to take a few “test shots” for us. Well, her “test shots” are absolutely amazing, and she was sweet enough to send over a whole batch of them to us. She really worked her magic on the two of us, and I really want to share all of her amazing photos, so I’m going to break them up a bit over the next week. Thank you Sarah for being so kind and really working your magic on us! We love you!
Yesterday felt like the perfect spring day. I got to spend time in the morning with Scott during his lunch break (we went to Whole Foods and had breakfast together<3), drink too much iced coffee, and go to the spring art festival in downtown tempe with my sweet cousin Odessa and her husband Tony. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful family and such an amazing boyfriend. I still can’t believe this October marks six years with my love! I already can’t wait (hurry up and get here fall!)!
Yesterday it was also oh so breezy and cool, and this sweet dress from Lulus was just perfect for going on a spring walk with Scott in downtown Mesa. I really love the dot chevron print on it, and the patriotic color palette. It’s perfect!
Here’s to a day filled with iced coffee and hopefully some time spent with sweet friends! What are you up to today? XO
I’m not going to lie, Sundays have never really been my favorite day of the week. I’m always scramming to get things finished up, and oftentimes I don’t get out of the house (and around 6 p.m. I start to go stir crazy after everything is closed!). However, for as long as I can remember my Sunday mornings have always started with a donut and the television program CBS Sunday Morning. Over the years I’ve added coffee to the mix, and sometimes I’ve had to change up my routine when I’m out of state, but overall, I cherish that hour or so where I just get to sit and eat my donut, sip my coffee, and learn about things I sometimes never even thought to question.
“Head low but you gotta let it sway / no miracle gonna happen when you feel that way / bent up but you gotta let is way / no firecracker in the dark gonna light your way / blow own but you gotta let it sway / c’mon now c’mon c’mon,” excerpt from Let it Sway by Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin.
For years I’ve looked to music to act as a healing tool. The right song can totally uplift my mood, and the wrong song (for the time) can totally bring me down. Lately I’ve been really loving singing along to lots of Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Jack’s Mannequin (as mentioned the other day), Stars (when am I not obsessed with Stars though?), and The Strokes (Room on Fire came on in Urban the other day and I might have belted out the whole song while standing in the sale section). In my moments of darkness, I’m truly thankful for those sweet songs that really know how to turn my mood around.
My passion for makeup and pretty eyeshadows has also been adding some brightness to my days lately. This olive color from M.A.C. is among some of my recent favorites. I wasn’t too sure at first that the color olive would go good with my skin tone, but I’m really loving the pop it brings to my eyes.
I’ve also been finding comfort in simple, yet chic ensembles. Nothing makes me feel more like myself then a sweet scarf, my favorite skinnies, and a darling pair of clog sandals to round it off. I swear, I’m a creature of habit.
I’m super excited to be getting lunch with my sweet cousin and aunt this afternoon. I might have to also treat myself to an iced coffee, and I plan on continuing with my productivity streak (that is, if I don’t get sidetracked from watching more makeup videos, and taking in the fact that I need to make some big decisions regarding my grad school program SOON).
What are you up to today? What’s your favorite uplifting, or even sad music? XO
Since high school I’ve been a lover of fun eyeshadows. Every day I loved rocking a bold, shimmery color, and eventually found myself with quite the collection of M.A.C. eyeshadows (my favorite!). During my early days in college I decided I would take a break from the eyeshadows and just stick to my everyday face make-up and black mascara routine. A few months back (5ish years after starting my break) I decided it would be fun to pull out my old collection and give it a look through. Since then I’ve become obsessed once again and find myself watching makeup tutorials and haul videos (Ashley’s are the best!), and wanting to learn more, and more about makeup.
So here is a few questions for you:
Are you into makeup? If so, what are your everyday go-to products?
Are you into eyeshadows? If so, what’s your favorite?
Have any tips you would like to share with this makeup obsessed (but still a newbie) girl?
Thank you so much in advance! I can’t wait to read your answers and suggestion!
I remember the first time I listened to Jack’s Mannequins’ Everything In Transit. I was a diehard Something Corporate fan, and was devastated when I found out that out that the lead singer, Andrew McMahon, was diagnosed with Leukemia. So when the album was released, it was a sign of hope, one that I try and carry with me as a reminder to life’s ups and downs. It’s also terribly catching and now, almost seven years after its release, I can still sing every word to every song.
The weather here is still having its ups and downs as well, and I tend to always opt to layering more than maybe is necessary to avoid being cold. Some of the buildings at ASU can get awfully chilly, and if I get too cold my body just wants to down and relax (which doesn’t work for me right now, as I have a stack of grad papers to work on! oh man!). Anyways, no matter what the season, I will always love a good layered outfit.
What are you up to today? Are you a Something Corporate or a Jack’s Mannequin fan? XO
Yesterday Scott and I spent some time scouting out locations for an upcoming photoshoot with our friend Sarah of Arrow & Apple. She was kind enough to take some test shots of us during our scouting adventure. This photo makes my heart feel so full. Thank you, sweet Sarah!
