The Whole Love

09.28.11

September has been a very sweet month and I can’t believe it’s already almost over. It has definitely had its chaotic moments, but with Scott by my side I’ve been able to get through everything I’ve worried/been stressed about with ease. He is truly my other half, the more peaceful half that always knows what to say and can see beyond all of the chaos that is going on. To be quite honest, if it wasn’t for Scott, my blog would not be possible. We’re a team in this, and I’m so thankful to have him in my life.

I know I’m a very lucky lady because Scott likes to go shopping with me (ok, maybe not all of the time, but for the most part). Last week we put on our brave faces and went down to Last Chance to see if we could score some amazing deals. Going into the store we both knew we wanted to find a pair of shoes for Scott (we did in the end), but somehow I got sidetracked and ended up in the women’s section (more than once).
The results of my wandering was this sweet skirt. I’ve really been wanting to add more skirts to my wardrobe (they seem so versatile), so when I spotted this one with a perfect length and pretty autumn floral pattern, I knew I couldn’t pass it up (that and because it was a mere $5).
I’m still pretty obsessed with my Jersy boots. Next to scarves, boots are my favorite fall accessory, and even though it’s still a little warm out to wear boots, I still can’t pass up a chance to pair them with a pretty skirt. I’m loving the riding boot style, and truly think every woman could use a great pair of riding boots in their wardrobe. I like how these have a little extra spunk to them, with the button over flap and zipper.
Today I have schoolwork to finish up, and also have my in-person class to attend later in the day. I’m definitely going to need some coffee (thinking some hot french press), and also some more time to listen to the new Wilco album, The Whole Love. I’ve only had a small listen so far (Scott bought it on vinyl), but I’m already obsessed.

Breakfast Date at Liberty Market

09.27.11

Breakfast at Liberty Market is always my favorite. It’s usually pretty calm and quiet in the inside dining area, your food arrives quickly, and the hot coffees are endless.

I truly love spending the morning together with Scott. I love chatting about our future, eating yummy breakfast dishes, and sipping hot coffees. I’ve always been a morning person, so being up and around and doing something good early in the morning always makes me feel so wonderful and puts me in the best mood for the rest of the day.
I got my favorite fruit, granola, and yogurt, and Scott got biscuits and gravy. I almost talked him into a scone as well, but in the end we were just too full.

Today I have schoolwork to finish up, and two meetings later on in the day. I might already be at my favorite coffee shop sipping away at my iced coffee, wishing my pile of homework would just disappear. That won’t happen though, so off I go.
What are you up to today? Favorite breakfast food?

September Morning

09.26.11

And it’s Monday already! Where did the weekend go? I had a really lovely one, but I’m sad to see it go. Scott and I went on a few special outings, and I got quite a bit of schoolwork done. It didn’t really feel like fall out, but I fully embraced the idea anyways. It’s almost October and I can hardly believe it.

Last week when I had lunch with Adrianna and Ashley, Adrianna was sweet enough to give me this beautiful scarf from her shop. She said she knew I would love the fall colors in it, and she was so right.
I wore this outfit to breakfast at Liberty Market with Scott. It had been awhile since we last had breakfast there, so we decided we should treat ourselves and headed down to Gilbert for the morning. Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal to go out for, and also to make at home. This morning Scott made us egg sandwiches, and hot English Breakfast tea. It was seriously so yummy.

Today Scott and I have a busy day ahead of us, but it’s going to be a great one. I just dropped him off from school, and now I’m trying to catch up on a few online things before I pick him up. Later I have a doctors appointment, hopefully with a stop at The Coffee Shop afterward for an iced coffee (my Drs. office is nearby), and then tonight we’re going to a Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game! We should probably throw some homework in there as well.

Yesterday I posted about participating in the Liz Claiborne 7 Days of Style. I’m really proud of my post, and I feel so blessed to be involved. You can check out the outfit I put together and why I love it here.

Liz Claiborne’s 7 Days of Style

09.25.11
Today I’m SO excited to announce that I am partaking in Liz Claiborne’s 7 Days of Style. This fall marks the one year anniversary of the collaboration between Liz Claiborne and Jcpenney, and to celebrate they have asked myself and six other style bloggers to style up a few pieces from their line.

I had such a great time perusing the racks of Liz Claiborne clothing at my local Jcpenney. I was so happy when I spotted this dress! The pattern is fun, the sweet little sleeves are perfect for the transition into fall, and the belt was such a nice extra touch.

When I spotted the cardigan, it just screamed me. I love three quarter length anything, and the unique shaped makes it more special than my every day cardigans. It’s also fairly light, and will be great for layering once it gets a little cooler out.

I had actually saw this purse online before going into the store, and when I saw it in person I knew it had to be mine. The long strap makes it easy to wear it over the shoulder, or crossbody, and the cute tassel adds a little bit of spunk that I just love. Bonus, it’s the perfect size for running around and holds everything I need!

Jcpenney and Liz Claiborne just launched the “7 Days of Style” contest online that offers the chance to win an all-expense paid trip to NYC for a tour of REDBOOK magazine, a meet & greet with the fashion director, a $1,000 Liz Claiborne shopping spree, and a set of Liz Claiborne luggage. This sounds like a once in a lifetime trip and winning would be SO amazing! You can enter right here!

For all of my sweet local readers, there is going to be a Liz Claiborne fashion show at Arrowhead Town Center on October 8th starting at 1 p.m. There will also be a special meet & great from 12 a.m. to 1 p.m. with some of the individuals involved with the Liz Claiborne collection for Jcpenney. So if you’r free, be sure and stop by the event! I’m sure it’s going to be a fun time!

Liz Claiborne for Jcpenney Loobook

09.25.11

Tomorrow morning I have something really exciting to announce, but until then I wanted to share with you the 2011 Liz Claiborne for Jcpenney Womens Fall Lookbook. They have some darling pieces, and the looks are really getting me ready for fall (even more, if you can imagine).

I’m kind of obsessing over the green skinnies, and the fun red hat!
Be back in the morning to share the news!

September Meet-Up

09.24.11

Yesterday I had the pleasure of having lunch with the owner of Le Mode Accessories, Adrianna, and Ashley of The Shine Project. Both ladies were in downtown working on something special, so Adrianna invited me down to Phoenix to have lunch with them.
Adrianna lives in California, and visits fairly regularly because of her sweet boyfriend that lives in the valley, and Ashley lives not too far from where I do (although, we didn’t know that before, but now that we do it’s crazy to think how close some of us AZ bloggers really are). Both ladies are seriously so sweet, and I had so much fun having lunch with them at the Phoenix Public Market. When I was working on my undergrad degree I used to go to the market all the time for lunch, coffee, and snacks, but now that I’m not in the area every day, I don’t have the chance to stop by much. However, when I did walk in yesterday I was greeted by one of the employees who had wondered where I had been. It was SO sweet, and I loved how that truly shows me how great our tight knit community in Phoenix really is.
Anyways, I feel like I can’t say enough about how awesome it is to have meet-ups with local (and visiting) bloggers/shop owners. It was so neat to be able to talk about blogs and all that they entail with ladies that really know what I mean. I seriously could have talked to them for hours, and I ‘m so happy that we were able to have lunch together. Next time Adrianna comes into town I hope we can do it again!
Have you met any of the local bloggers in your town? Have you ever been to a blogger meet-up?

The Camera Day Pack

09.23.11
Happy first day of fall! I am SO happy that that the most amazing season is finally here! Now I can drink PSLs, eat candy corn, AND watch Hocus Pocus and not feel ashamed one bit!

Now that it’s getting cooler out (ok, it’s 107 degrees today but it’s supposed to be getting cooler) I foresee lots of photo adventures. I have big plans for corn fields, wandering around downtown Phoenix, and visiting Schnepf Farms come October! With that said, I feel like I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a good camera case to take with you on all of your adventures. Throughout my years of owning a DSLR I have gone through quite a few cases, but somehow always end up placing my camera in my purse and lugging it around my shoulder. I know throwing it in there with all of my other stuff is not great, but I didn’t always have a good alternative.

So recently when the folks at Photojojo asked me if I would be up for reviewing their new Camera Day Pack, I jumped at the opportunity. The bag is stylish, fairly small, and has just enough space for my camera, an extra lens, and also a few essential purse items. I really love that it’s not bulky, and is definitely not your typical black camera bag. The stylish factor is big for me, but it doesn’t hurt that the pack is quite functional as well.

Another little thing that I love about the pack is that in-between the top flap there is a small, padded piece that protects the camera from scratches (from the zipper above). The whole pack itself is very padded, and I know that when I put my camera in there it’s in good hands.
Also, usually when you get a Photojojo order you get a special dinosaur surprise in your package. This little guy was hiding from me at the bottom of the box. Too cute!

I felt comfortable, stylish, and very me in this outfit. Give me a fun headband (this one is made by my friend Ilene/Much Love, Illy), denim on denim, strappy sandals, and a camera tote to carry around and I’m a happy lady. This is definitely an every day outfit for me, and it’s perfect for all the running around I seem to do. I swear I’m always on the go, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
The last thing I think I should point out is that the Camera Day Pack isn’t only great for me, but it also works out really nicely for Scott. The color gives it a little more of a unisex feel, so it’s perfect for the both of us to carry around on our adventures!

Jean top: Levi’s

Urban Picnic Lunch Date

09.22.11

For months now Scott and I have been talking about trying out Urban Picnic, a semi-new, local restaurant in downtown Mesa. So yesterday when we were out of things to make for lunch at home, we decided to go out and give Urban Picnic a try.

The restaurant itself is pretty tiny, but it’s completely cute. Clean lines, nice white walls, pretty wooden tables, and faux ants crawling up the side of the wall. When we got there it was pretty busy, and it took us a bit to get a seat, but the food was definitely worth the wait.

See the cute ants?

Scott and I both got the caprese sandwich, along with potato salad and mac n cheese for our sides. The sandwiches were extra delicious, and very filling. We were not as impressed with our sides, though. While both were ok, it felt a bit silly to pay a dollar extra for the mac n cheese. Next I think we will go with the fruit, or maybe even try the pasta salad.

Before we left Scott ordered an iced americano, ya know, because we still had a full day of studying and running around ahead of us. The americano had great flavor, and was definitely a much needed energy boost.
Overall, we both really liked Urban Picnic and will be going back again. If you’re ever in downtown Mesa around lunch time, definitely check it out!
Have you been to Urban Picnic? What’s your favorite kind of sandwich?

Third Friday

09.21.11

One of my favorite things about Phoenix is the art community that surrounds it. There are so many talented people in Phoenix, and twice a month the town likes to show them off. So this past Friday Scott and I went down to Phoenix to celebrate Third Friday. It was a pretty warm night, so I decided it would be best to wear something flowy, and comfortable.

I also wanted to show off one of the sweetest designers I know, Moorea Seal, so I sported a pair of her arrow earrings during the night. They’re so tiny, and dainty. I just love them!

For a little extra coverage with my skinny strapped dress, I wore this pretty lace vest Scott bought me over the summer. I love how it adds an extra element to the outfit, without making it bulky or hot.
I might have worn my favorite Blowfish Butter wedges. These wedges are very comfortable, and easy to walk in, which was great because we did quite a bit of walking during the night (around Grave Avenue, down and up all around Roosevelt ).
While we were in downtown I took every opportunity to take cute photos. I kind of love the spray painted fence above, and it was one of the first things I spotted after we got out of the car and headed toward the galleries.
Among our stops during the night was Dave Quam’s (aka Luster Kaboom) show at The Trunk Space. It was so neat to see his art in such a large scale, and Scott and I had such a nice talking with for a little bit. He’s really such a talented artist, and he’s been doing so many great things around Phoenix lately! Go Dave!
Before leaving Grand Ave. we stopped in at Bragg’s Pie Factory. It has always been one of my favorite galleries, maybe for the fact that the space is so huge (which is pretty unsual for art galleries in Phoenix), or that it was once a pie factory! I’m pretty sure they need to have a pie social in there one day!
Scott and I ended the night with shaved iced from Mojo Bowl. This was our first time having a mojo bowl, and I have to say, it was SO delicious. We had froyo on the bottom, raspberry shaved iced, and yummy cream on top. It was the perfect treat for a night warm night!
