LOVING HIM WAS RED

02.11.14
The holiday of love is upon us and I’m feeling particulary lovey dovey this year. This newylwed has been listening to love songs non-stop and munching on conversation hearts like they’re going out of style (well, technically they are). This will be Scott and I’s 8th Valentine’s Day together (!!!), and while we have no specific plans as of now, I know the day will be incredibly special. On our first Valentine’s Day together Scott gave me a bouquet of sunflowers and took silly self-timer photos with me in his old yard. By then, we had been together for four months and were madly in love with each other. We knew we had something special, and now, more than ever, it’s feel so great to look back on those moments and photos to see how far we’ve come. From a couple of teenagers in love, to a newlywed couple. Life sure is sweet!

To balance out life post-wedding and pre-love day (ya know, the one with all of the sweets and treats), I’ve been running a few times a week at a local outdoor track. I’ve never been much of a runner, let alone very athletic, but lately I’ve sure been trying to build up my edurance up and get comfortable with running a few miles every week. For the most part, I’ve been running in two mile intervals. Some days it’s a little less, some days I feel like I can handle a little more. With an office job that leaves me in my seat for eight’ish hours a day, it sure feels good to get out in the fresh air, crank up the music, and just run. I’ve been using the RunKeeper app to track my daily runs. If anyone is on RunKepper (dowload it!), be sure and add me as a friend.

Sweater: Banana Republic
Blouse: Old online store
Jeans: American Eagle

Ok, I’m off to pick up some love day goodies (See’s candies are my favorite!) with my mom, whip up some dinner, and get a little run in! What are you up to this evening? Have any V-day plans? What’s your favorite love song?

OUR WEDDING: MOMENTS

02.10.14
On January 18, 2014, after seven years of love, laughter, and friendship, Scott and I tied the knot in Scottsdale, Arizona in front of our family and friends. Our day was truly magical, and was everything that we could have hoped for and more. To start off the first of many post-wedding blog posts, I wanted to share a few “moments” that our sweet photographer, Sarah, kindly sent our way to tide us over until all of our wedding photos are ready. Without further adieu —

We began the celebrations with our first look on a grassy knoll. Scott stood patiently waiting for me with this back turned while I held my dress high and walked up behind him. When I was ready, I tapped him on the shoulder and whispered, “Are you ready?” Our reactions upon our first looks were sweet and unforgettable (big smiles all around!), and this is a moment that I’m truly thankful we were able to have together. Looking back, I’ll never forget how Scott looked at me when he saw me in my dress for the first time. His words and reactions will be forever sealed in my heart.

My father walked me down the aisle to Iron and Wine’s version of Such Great Heights by The Postal Service. I’ll forever be thankful that we were able to share this sweet moment together – my dad and the daughter that he raised with all of the love and kindess in the world.

My aunt married us in a unique and personal ceremony in a light filled room while the sun was beginning to set. We listened to and spoke words of encouragement and love, prayed, lit a candle of unity together, and said, “we do.” With a kiss we were married, and all felt right in the world.

After our ceremony, we took photos with our family, bridal party, and together as a newlywed couple. We battled for good light, but found ourselves on the top of a parking garage engulfed in the prettiest Arizona glow, together as Mr. and Mrs. for the first time.

All photos by Arrow & Apple.

We spent the rest of the evening dancing, sipping on coffees (we had coffee station and the best baristas!), snacking on the most delicious food, snapping photos in the photobooth, mingling with our guests, and taking in every magical moment as possible. The night ended with a sparkler send off! I ran barefoot through the streams of light and tried to capture each face as we past by. The magic in this moment will never be forgotten.
Thank you all for looking and reading about our special day. I hope you enjoyed seeing and reading my thoughts on these momments, and I look forwarding to sharing more in the weeks to come.
Sincerely,
Mrs. G xo

CRANBERRY CRUSH

02.05.14
Happy February! We’re only five days into the month, but I already have a feeling that it’s going to be a very busy one. Work has kept me plenty busy during the day, and I’ve just been trying to relax a little and snuggle with my pups at night (and over the weekend!) – hence the crickets around here. I have so many things that I’m excited for this month, and I’m hoping for a very productive February! I’m also very excited for Valentine’s Day this year because I finally get to buy Scott a “Happy V-Day, husband” card! Haha – It’s really the little things.

Lately, Phoenix has been all over the map when it comes to weather. Last week it was warm and no sweater was really necesary if you were running around outside. This week, however, it has been chilly! On Monday, I only left my office once to pick up lunch (right next door), and yesterday, bundling up was a must before my walk to a local sandwhich shop. Honestly, though, you won’t hear me complaining more about the cold – I’m hoping this winter weather sticks around just a little bit longer so we can have more backyard bonfires and cozy nights in. Oh, and getting to wear my winter wardrobe without sweating to death is a major bonus as well! How’s the weather been around you lately? Are you over this cold, or are you hoping it sticks around for awhile longer?

Scott and I have been married two and a half weeks and we already have a few of our wedding photos back! Our sweet photographer, Sarah, wanted us to have some photos of our big day before she and her family started their move across the country (miss them already!). I’ve already shared a few on my Instagram, but I was thinking of  posting a few here as well. I was planning on waiting until we had them all so I could put them in order – from getting ready, to our sparkler exit – but why not share a few early? Right? Right! I also have tons of photos from our honeymoon to share, and want to put together a list of everywhere we went and loved – which is about 95% coffee shops! Just kidding 😉

Today, I have a full day of meetings ahead of me and I’m hoping this homemade iced coffee that I’ve been sipping on kicks in real soon! *yawn* On Monday, I got some really excited news at work (!!!) and can’t wait to see what the new’ish year will bring. Big things are happening in my career, and I truly couldn’t be more thankful! I know I’ve held back in the past talking about what I do, but once things calm down here a little bit, I would like to share my careet stor – it’s been a unique one!
Ok, I’m out! But first, what are you up to today? Are you super psyched that it’s already February?

THE WINTER GLOW

01.31.14
It’s Friday! Woohoo! This week has gone by so slowly, and yet so quickly at the same time. Monday was my first day back at work after being off for two weeks – so the day had a few hiccups, like I went into the wrong meeting room and convinced a coworker that we were in the right room, WRONG! At least it was funny afteward! Tuesday I spent my day outside with a client and a few sweet bloggers at the Phoenix Open, which was so refreshing! Wednesday and Thursday were my slow days, but I got a lot accomplished and I’m feeling back on top of my game since being gone. I am so ready for the weekend, though, even if we don’t have much planned! Saturay and Sunday are quickly becoming my favorite days of the week again!

Last night, Scott and I spent the evening celebrating our good friends, Josh and Sarah, and their sweet baby girl, Imogen. They’re moving to Springfield, MO on Monday, so it was nice to spend the evening with them and some of their closest friends sharing stories, listening to great music, and eating delicious food! We hung out at The Yard in Phoenix for most of the evening, which has an awesome indoor/outdoor space with ping pong tables, corn holing, and live music! It was Scott and I’s first time going there, but it definitly won’t be our last. They’re also opening up a second location of my favorite local coffee shop, Lola Coffee, in the same plaza! Double win!

I’ll be starting February off with a simple, “rabbit, rabbit rabbit,” to bring on good luck for the new month. Anyone else do this? A friend of mine in high school told me about this good luck trick and I’ve been doing it (almost) every month since. Saturday mornings are when my local farmer’s markets are held, and since we’re lucky enough to have nice weather through the winter months, they run all year long. I haven’t been to the farmer’s market in months, so I’m thinking it would be nice to grab a cup of coffee bright and early and take a stroll through the market. I’m totally a morning person, so being able to enjoy a nice morning outside and schedule/meeting free sounds amazing to me!

Ok, I’ll admit – these photos were taken pre-wedding when Scott still had this serious mustache going on. He shaved his usual facial hair combo to this stache when Anchorman 2 came out as a joke, but it ended up growing on him and stayed around much longer than I thought it would. He left it all the way up to a day or so before the wedding when he decided that he wanted to be clean-shaven for our big day! It was funny while it lasted, but I have a feeling it won’t be making a comeback anytime soon. He sure looks cute with a stache, though!

Sweater: Levi’s
Scarf: Macy’s
Blouse: Old online store

Do you have any goals or big plans for February?
How do you like to spend your Saturday mornings?

END OF JANUARY

01.30.14
Now that I’m a married lady and back from our honeymoon, I’ve slowly been getting back into my daily routine. Planning out lunches and outfits the night before, getting up early, eating breakfast + sipping on hot coffee before work, doing the daily grind, shooting outfit photos in the January dusk, and blogging at night. Before the wedding I had a pretty good healthy eating routine going on, and now that I’m back home and settled, I plan on getting back on the groove of no dairy, no sugar, and no grains. I’ve also never been much of a runner, but I’ve been feeling so inspired by a few of my favorite ladies (Hey, Tieka & Mandy!) and I’m feeling ready to get in the game. Plus, it’s been BEAUTIFUL  lately, so an outside run sounds perfect right about now (ask me again in July, HA!). I would to hear any of your running tips, and if you prefer to run on a treadmill or outside? I’m all ears!

I’m in awe that it’s already the end of January! This month literally zoomed by — I was a little busy, though! The beginning of January brought much excitement about our upcoming wedding as we packed away the Christmas decorations and celebrated the new year. I was back at work for one full week before taking off to start the wedding festivities. Scott and I both took the week of and after our wedding off so we could completely focus on each other and the wedding. I loved running last minute wedding errands and having daily breakfast dates together! We both celebrated our last few days as single individuals (HEY, bachelorette party!), and then practiced saying I do. On our wedding day, we had breakfast together and got ready to celebrate the most exciting day of our lives thus far! Our wedding was over in a flash, but we devoted our love and lives to one another, danced to Copeland’s Coffee for our first dance, fed each other cake, and ran through a wall of sparklers on our way out to the door for the first time as Mr. &a Mrs. G! WOW! January truly was an amazing month!

Now that the month is almost over, I plan on jotting down a few goals to make February the best it can be. I’ve had a few books sitting on our shelf for months now, and a letter that needs to be written to my penpal. February will be significantly less busy than January, but I’m ready for the month of love and my first Valentine’s day with my husband!

WE’RE MARRIED

01.27.14

It’s official, we’re married! We had the most beautiful wedding on a very warm January day. We feel so blessed to have been able to spend such an amazing day celebrating with our family and friends, and would like to thank everyone for all of your very sweet and kind words regarding our big day – it truly mean so much to us! The wedding itself went by in the blink of an eye, and before we knew it we were husband and wife. We danced well into the evening hours, and left our wedding with a sparkler send off! It truly was a magical day!
I plan on sharing more details from our big day (plus loads of photos & a piece of our wedding video), but for now I’ll leave you with this very special photo that our photographer, Sarah of Arrow and Apple, snapped of us right before we said I do!
Today, I’m headed back to work after having two weeks off and I have a feeling that I’m going to be needing ALL of the coffee today! ECK!
Missed you friends! I’m so happy to be back!
Sincerely,
Mrs. G xo

TWO DAYS

01.16.14

That’s right, we’re getting married in TWO DAYS! This past week has gone by in the blink of an eye, and now we’re just mere hours away from being husband and wife. I’ve been very fortunate to have this entire week off of work, so Scott and I have been spending tons of time together running errands, working on last minute DIY’s, and getting pumped for our big day!
The festivities really begin tonight, with our bachelorette and bachelor parties! I’m off to get my nails done for the big day with a few sweet ladies, and Scott is off to race cars with his brothers and a friend. Tomorrow is our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner (which will be quite the party!), and Saturday is the big day!
If you don’t hear from me again until after the wedding, Scott and I both want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being so excited with us! I’m so excited to marry my best friend!
Sincerely,
Chelsea xo

SIX DAYS

01.13.14

Here we are, relaxing together after a busy day of work (for him), cleaning, doing laundry, starting to pack for our honeymoon, and feeling anxious/stressed (mostly me) about our wedding day that is officially six days away! While all of the big details are planned out and ready to go on the big day, we’re still working on small DIYs and emailing about last minute details. In this moment, I’m feeling even more thankful that I decided to take off the whole week before the wedding from work – I have a feeling we’re going to be busy from here on out!

I’m starting off tomorrow with an early morning doctor’s appointment, followed by a breakfast date with my very soon-to-be husband. In the afternoon and into the evening, I plan on finishing up some laundry (snooze, but it must be done before the wedding!), painting a few decor pieces for the wedding, and getting our programs printed. Come Thursday, we will be in full on wedding mode! AH! I seriously can’t believe how quickly our wedding day is approaching! Our countdown is getting shorter and shorter, and before we know it the day will finally be here. Until then, here’s to enjoying our wedding week and not stressing about the little things – I’m going to be a wife, a Mrs., Scott’s wife come Saturday and that is all that truly matters!

Here’s to the best week ever!

January Playlist

01.10.14

We are nine days away from our wedding day! That’s single digits, friends! These nine months since our engagement in April have gone by so quickly, and I’m almost in awe that our big day is right around the corner (cue squeals and a big smiling face!). Tomorrow is my last day of work until after our honeymoon, and I have to say, I’m very excited to unplug and be in a full wedding state-of-mind! I thought it might be fun to share some tunes that I’ve been listening to lately, and also maybe a peek at one of our wedding songs – I plan on sharing our wedding playlist after the big day! Enjoy! xo
