Radiant Cosmetics Smoky Eyes Eye Shadow Palette

12.17.12

Today I wanted to share with you the newest eye shadow palette in my collection, the Radiant Cosmetics Smoky Eyes Eye Palette.

Created with the holidays in mind, this pretty palette offers four shadows, a matte pale pink, a shimmery purple, a shimmery grey, and a matte black, to mix and max and create your perfect smoky eye look with.

The shadows themselves are very pigmented, and easy to blend. So far my favorite combination is the shimmery grey all over the lid, with the shimmery purple through the crease. I’m attending a holiday party this Friday, and can’t wait to pull out my Smoky Eyes Eye Palette to create a stand-out look for a fun evening out!

If you were wanting to order something from Radiant Cosmetics for a loved for Christmas, or a little present to yourself for a job well done on finals or a holiday pick-me-up, you still have two days to order and get your package before Christmas!

Also, don’t forget that  Radiant Cosmetics has an amazing mission of helping to raise awareness of human trafficking, and proceeds from their shop go to providing resources for those on the forefront of change, as well as victims of trafficking.

Whats you’re favorite makeup look for a holiday party?

Crafeteria 2012

12.16.12
Last Friday Scott and I attended the 7th Annual Crafeteria. We look forward to this evening every year, and this year was no different. It was a chilly evening (we finally got to bust out our coats and scarves), and we were so excited for all of the festivities ahead of us – running into sweet friends, checking out amazing, local craft booths, looking through the Frances Studio Christmas shop, eating delicious cupcakes, and sipping on hot coco!
Subtle Takeover had an awesome booth! We both an awesome geometric ornament from Josh, and love having it on our tree.
We spent some time wandering around the inside of Frances (to check out all of the goodies and to beat the cold for a bit) and everything in the store looked so magical! I especially loved this tiny tree and the Merry Christmas garland hanging in the back.
We had the best peppermint hot coco cupcake from Urban Cookies, thanks to our sweet friend, Courtney!
Huckleberry FayeKaty and Anthony Verga, had THE cutest booth! Katy hand makes the most darling dolls for little boys and girls, and even sews and knits darling clothing for them as well. You can check out her shop right here!
Two of my very favorite ladies, Sarah and Courtney!
Merry May’s shop was looking amazing! Other than traveling around with her adorable mini trailer, she also has an online store now where you can score some of her amazing vintage pieces (check it out right here).
So happy I got a picture with these two sweet ladies, Sarah and Mandy!
I was extra excited to run into these incredibly inspirational women, Carrie Wheeler and Georgeanne Bryant. Carrie was my very favorite professor in journalism school, and Georganne is the mastermind behind the Frances empire and Crafeteria.

Brendan always has the cutest booth (and buttons)!

Do you have any holiday craft fairs in your area? What’s your favorite Christmas time activity?

Classy Girls

12.14.12

I am officially now in the home stretch of being done with the fall semester, with just one measly paper due on Tuesday (I should probably start that soon, right?). To be honest, I couldn’t be more excited for a break! Since I only have one assignment left, I sort of feel like I’ve already delved into the break – with the past few days being full of coffee, a little Christmas shopping, and good tunes. Lately I’ve really been into The Lumineers, particularly with their song Classy Girls (hence the title of today’s post)!

I recently received this pretty peplum top from LuLu*s and love the classy factor it brings to an every day outfit. The lace detailing is lovely, the cap sleeves are perfect for cooler weather, and I love the little surprise, sheer dip it has in the back! Depending on how chilly it is on Sunday, I just might wear this outfit to Scott’s work Christmas party!

Outfit details:
Peplum blouse: c/o LuLu*s
Bracelets: Kate Spade
Jeans: Levi’s
Boots: BP

Today I have plans for some solo shopping, lots of hot coffee to help beat this major chill we’re having in Phoenix, and to also start on my final paper.

What are your plans for the weekend? Attending any Christmas parties? What’s your favorite thing to bring to a holiday party? Baked goods? Yummy drinks? Savory foods? Good tunes?

The Cold

12.12.12

Hoping that I’m not jumping the gun here, but I’m going to say it – It’s officially cold in Phoenix! Last weekend I had to pull out my wool coat and tall boots for an evening out in Central Phoenix to attend the best craft fair of the year, Crafeteria (post for that to come!), and was so happy to finally be able to relish in the cold (is that weird? maybe not for someone who see 116 degree days in August!).

Yesterday I had my last official class of the semester, and now I only have one final exam and one final paper to complete before Christmas vacation is finally here! I am SO excited to be able to have more time for Christmassy activities, coffee dates with friends, leisure reading (no more textbooks, please!), and really just to do whatever I want for the next three weeks! Woohoo!

Jacket: Banana Republic
Top: Lush
Jeans: Levi’s

What are you up to today? Done with finals yet? Have anything fun planned for your holiday vacation?

The End of Fall

12.07.12

Although winter is knocking at our door, well, seasonly speaking that is, Phoenix is still holding on to ever last bit of fall that it can get. Unfortuately, most of the trees in our area don’t have the pleasure of changing with the seasons. However, a select few trees in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Tempe seem to have a little something extra special and every year they give us the most beautiful golden leaves (albeit a little late).

Even though I’m not entirely ready to give up fall, I am excited for winter adventures. Tonight is the 7th annual Crafeteria in Central Phoenix, something that I absolutely look forward to every year. This year Scott and I’s sweet friends Sarah and Josh are having a booth, and we can’t wait check out all of the amazing handmade goods, pick up something delicious from Short Leash Hot Dogs, and listen to the live music in front of Stinkweeds! If you’re local, Crafeteria is from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Frances parking lot at 10 W. Camelback Road. If you see me, be sure and say hello! I love meeting sweet readers!

Outfit details:
Cardigan: Jcrew
T-shirt: Last Chance
Scarf: Forever 21
Purse: Kate Spade
Jeans: Levi’s
Boots: Steve Madden

Today I’m off to do some studying, a little Christmas shopping, and then off to Phoenix tonight. What do you  have planned for the weekend? Anything Christmassy? I would love to hear about your plans!

Finals Are Upon Us

12.06.12

It’s official, finals have taken over my life. Around this time every year I have a mini panic attack about all of the work I have to do, but somehow I always get it all finished (fingers crossed the same scenario happens again this year). Today Scott and I spent some time in our favorite coffee shop studying for finals and finishing up final papers. We’re both really excited to have a little break from school, and time to really enjoy the holiday season.

If you’re in school right now, how are finals going for you? If you’re out of school, how did you always handle finals seasons? Have any tips and tricks you can share?

Backlines

12.04.12

Yesterday I took a beautiful drive through an old neighborhood in Central Phoenix. Over there the homes are older, unique, and perfectly decorated for Christmas already. They also have a local tree farm/nursery that looked quite charming from the road, and is definitely a place that I want to go back and visit before the holiday season is over.

I find it quite refreshing to drive around a part of town that you’re unfamiliar with. Although I know the cross streets and the general area fairly well, I don’t think I’ve ever just taken a drive and explored what the area has to offer. Situated not too far from my favorite parts of town, Central Phoenix offers the charm of a city that feels so far away from the dessert (the trees in the area are amazing – still filled with golden yellow leaves!). On my way home I also stopped by a local coffee shop off of 7th Avenue that I haven’t been to in years, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the coffee and treats were even better than I remembered.

Cardigan: Banana Republic
Shirt: Vanilla & Lace
Necklace: c/o A Lovely Little Shop

Yesterday I was in the area to model for a photo shoot with Emma Magazine, a fairly new, locally produced magazine. The whole experience was really great, and I can’t wait to share the January issue with you all when it launches.

What are you up to today?

The Bold Red Lip

11.30.12

Today I thought I would share a how-to on how I did my new favorite bold liner and red lip makeup look from yesterday’s blog post, Stiletto Red.

For the eyes, I started with my MAC painterly paint pot as a based (not pictured), followed by MAC’s eyeshadow in Shroom (an old favorite) all over the lid, and finally I topped off the whole eye look with Too Faced’s Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black on my upper lash line (starting from my inner corner and sliding it across my lash line).

After I applied my everyday foundation (Bare Minerals Mineral Foundation in Fairly Light), I used the Bare Mineral’s Ready Luminizer in The Love Affair on and above my cheek bones, and then applied MAC’s Powder Blush in Fleet Fast to the apples of my cheeks.

To complete the look, I applied Too Faced’s La Creme Color Drenched Lip Cream in Stiletto Red.

Lately I’ve been really loving this simple, yet very classic look and think it’s perfect for everyday, or an evening holiday look! Please let me know if you decide to give this look a try, and please leave a link if you post a picture so I can see it!

Have a great day, sweet friends!
