The Chelsea Veggie Dog

04.24.12

I’ve already proclaimed my love for the local food truck Short Leash Hot Dogs and their amazing veggie dogs, but recently while visiting them at Food Truck Friday at the Phoenix Public Market I ordered what is probably my favorite veggie dog to date.

I give you the Chelsea Veggie Dog! Its got: ketchup, thousand island dressing, relish, pinto beans, and mushrooms (placed on top of a veggie dog, covered by Naan bread). In all honesty, this veggie dog concoction is amazing, and if you’re local you should definitely check out Short Leash and asked for this (it’s not called the Chelsea Veggie Dog, but they definitely have all of the ingredients on hand). If you’re not local, this could easily be made at home and would be the perfect lunch on a warm day (because veggie dogs mean Summer, right?).

Enjoy! XO

Sunset Alley

04.23.12
Last week I mentioned that Scott spotted this neat little alley way around Tempe that he just knew I would love. Well, he did it again. On Friday evening we took a nice little walk around a cute neighborhood in Tempe and dreamed of the day that we might live there. Neither of us particularly want to live in Tempe, but the neighborhood we were surrounded by was just picturesque. With the cool temperatures we were having that evening, and the shade from the trees that covered us as we strolled by, it most certainly felt like were were in a town far away from Tempe (Paonia, Colorado, to be exact).

I wore this outfit to downtown Phoenix for our 3rd Friday Art Walk. There was a neat bike art exhibit that I really wanted to check out, and it was a BEAUTIFUL evening to walk around downtown. Scott and I ran into a few friends a long the way, and ended up taking a nice long stroll through the city to find some water/vitamin water because we were both way too parched for our own good. I swear, I love Phoenix at night (especially when it’s warm out). Now, if only September, October, and November can hurry up and get here. Phoenix is just beautiful in the fall (and maybe I’m just excited and ready for the nostalgia that comes along with it already).
What did you do this weekend? XO

ABC: What would you like to hear me talk about?

04.21.12

With the Arizona Blogger Conference quickly coming up, I’ve been giving a lot of thought as to whether I want to talk on our panel of experts. All of my very sweet Phoenix Style Collective members have been really encouraging about it, and really want me to be on the panel as well. The thing is, I’m a horrible public speaker. I panic, turn red, and everyone in the audience usually goes blurry ( & in a worst case scenario my hearing almost completely goes and I almost pass out).

With that said, if I was to speak on the panel, what would you like to hear me talk about? I sort of have an idea already, but I’m really interested in hearing what others would like to hear. Please feel free to comment even if you’re unable to attend (and I really hope that many of you are able to!).

White On Purple

04.18.12

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you probably know that I’m partial to darkly colored clothing. Greys, blacks, and denim is my comfort zone, but just for fun I thought it might be nice to change things up and wear something a little light.
A sweet classmate of mine told me that I looked very refreshed in this outfit. What a nice compliment! Maybe I should wear my bright whites and cream colors more often!

I love the sweet ruffles down the front of this blouse, and cute little buttons down the back. It’s a perfect top for summer, and one that I’m already getting a lot of used to. It’s supposed to hit almost 100 degrees this weekend!

This past weekend and week really has been so lovely. Attending the Sucre show on Sunday was just great, and getting to meet some of my most favorite blog/instagram friends made it that much more sweet (I’m looking at you Elsie and Maria!). Like I mentioned on Twitter, I am so thankful for the blogging world and all of the amazing people I’ve met because of it. I truly can’t imagine my life without blogging. Geez, now I’m getting all teary eyed. Anyways, have a lovely one! XO

Sunshine Walk

04.17.12

Don’t you love it when you come across a hidden gem of an area that you had never spotted before. While on a bus ride around campus Scott spotted this pretty alleyway that he knew I would just love. Man, he really does know the way to my heart.

Around Phoenix we really are blessed to have such different pockets of areas. Close to campus there are lots of trees and pretty old buildings. In downtown, there are amazing old buildings and an almost forgotten industrial landscape. Around Arcadia and Camelback Mountain, you really get a sense that you live in the desert (and a lovely one for that). I swear, I really love my city.
And you’ve caught me layering again! I just can’t get enough. At least I’m pairing my layered looks with some fun sandals from Blowfish Shoes. These are my first pair of “flatforms.” and I have to say, I’m loving the trend. I could always use a little height!

Rust & Sand

04.16.12
The transition into spring/summer always seems to be a trick one for me. The weather gets warm, school gets busy, and summer plans leave me feeling stressed. Lately I haven’ been doing too well with this transition, but I’m hoping for brighter moments in the near future. Does anyone else have a hard time with the transitioning seasons (and all the emotions that come with them)? Ok, enough debbie downer for now. It’s almost my birthday and the idea of turning 24 is crazy! Where has time gone?

I picked up this vintage Vera scarf will on a thrifting trip a few weeks ago. I love the colors, and how perfectly it matches my new Madewell shirt. I’ve never been too good about wearing headbands, but vintage scarves in my hair is definitely something I can do!

Today is for going on a nice long walk, sipping coffee, making some progress on some grad papers, blogging, taking photos, and maybe some time spent in Phoenix? The possibilities are endless! Did you have a nice weekend? Do anything fun? Scott and I went and saw Sucre last night! -Chelsea xo

No Sunlight, No Sunlight

04.14.12

Ok, the title might be a bit misleading. There has been plenty of sun around here the past few days, but yesterday the Phoenix area decided to cool down a bit and gave us a little shade and a cool breeze. To say I’m thankful for the amazing weather would be an understatment. I’m already so ready for fall. Can we just fast forward through the summer months? Wishful thinking I guess! What do you do to get you through the summer months?
