Forks Weekend

11.19.11
Today has been for Forks Coffee, pizza eating, and Breaking Dawn with my sweetie.

My mom brought Scott and I this coffee back from Seattle. I’ve never heard of this roaster, but apparently they are amazing?

All I know is that the coffee is delicious, and the movie made me cry earlier (just a little).
What are you up to today? Are you into the Twilight Saga?

Lucky Lady

11.17.11
Is it really already Thursday? Oh my! This week has gone by so fast! November is just flying by!
I’m so excited to announce that I am now a part of The Lucky Style Collective! The collective is Lucky Magazine’s first-ever blogger network, and I feel incredibly honored to have been accepted into it. There is so many amazing ladies involved in it (like the very sweet Tieka and Jen), and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this amazing collective! I feel so lucky (wink, wink)!

I can’t believe the semester is already winding down so quickly. I have four final papers to write, and I need to get started on all of them very soon. My first end-of-the-semester work in Grad school seems really overwhelming, but I know if I just sit down for a little while each day and focus on one thing at a time I will get everything done. Sometimes I forget this and my mind goes into a panic, but I know it’s important to remind myself that everything will be ok.

Tonight Scott and I are working our first shift as Levi’s seasonal employees. We frequent our local Levi’s so much that the manager asked us to be a part of the team for holidays. We’re both pretty excited to be a part of the team!

What are you up to today? Are you ready for the semester to end? Are you working any seasonal jobs this year?

Morning Date at Matt’s Big Breakfast

11.16.11
Scott and I are big breakfast people. Ok, well, I am and Scott has learn to love it over the years. We both do really love going out for breakfast, though, and one of our favorite places to go is Matt’s Big Breakfast in downtown Phoenix.

Matt’s is a teeny, tiny place that only holds about 20 or so customers at a time. There usually is a line to get in, and since it was a holiday the wait was even longer this time around. In the end, we probably waited close to an hour to get it, but we didn’t mind that much. We knew the wait would be worth it!

We started off our little date with some hot coffee. It was actually pretty chilly outside this morning, so it was nice to have the cup to warm up my hands!
The coffee was endless, so of course there was more. Scott and I were both really excited to be there, so we had to take it all in. The last time we went to Matt’s was earlier in the year when I was still attending Journalism school down the street. I envy those who are just able to stop in in between classes (it can be done, if you get there at just the right time)!
Scott and I really love our coffee.
For breakfast I had a egg and cheese omelet, and their house home fries. I also had an amazing piece of toast that I gobbled up before I could get a picture of it.

Scott had the special of the day, an egg, spinach, chicken sausage dish plus hash browns and also some toast.
We both really enjoyed our meals and look forward to going back one day. Did you know Matt’s was once at Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives? They have the spray painted stamp inside to prove it!
Do you like going out for breakfast?

Quiet Place

11.15.11
It’s Tuesday and the iced coffee gods have been kind to me. I’m sipping away on my favorite beverage, and getting my mind together for the day. I grew up in a very loud environment (in a good way), so I have really learned to cherish my quiet, alone time. I always feel best when I have a few moments to myself each day to be quiet. Anyone else feel this way?

Remember how I announced that I am one of Jcpenney’s Holiday Campaign Ambassadors? Well, today is the day I start handing out those coveted Trendsetter badges! All you have to do is rock a Jcpenney garment on Chictopia and let me see your look! I have one badge a week to give out for the next few weeks, and I’m so excited to give it to someone who is rocking a sweet Jcpenney look!

Also, I would love to give the badge to someone who follows me on Chictopia! So if you would like, follow me and leave a comment letting me know you would like the trendsetter badge because you recently rocket a Jcpenney look! Remember, the Trendsetter badge is worth 1500 chic points! That’s huge!
Today I have a few errands to get done, some school work to finish up, and I think a bike ride might be in the cards too! I might also need another iced coffee!

November Fringe

11.14.11
This morning I was up bright and early and before the sun. My sleeping patterns have been really off for the past few months, so I’m either up super early or later than I would want to be. Anyways, I was happy to be up early this morning so I could collect my thoughts, and get a little blogging done. I’ve always been a morning person!

This weekend Scott and I went to see Like Crazy at one of our local art theaters. I’ve been dying to see it every since I saw the movie trailer with Stars’ Dead Hearts song playing in the background. It was a very moving movie, and Scott and I could really relate to some of what was going on in it. The fact that she was a journalist, and he was a furniture maker felt all too familiar in the very best way. Ever since seeing it, it’s all I have been talking about. I’m pretty sure we will be going to see it again! I think I need the soundtrack too!

Lately I’ve been rocking the cozy look. I’m so happy to be all bundled up and feeling like I don’t live in Arizona (I do love it here, but I’m such a fan of the cool weather!). This past weekend it was raining and cold! I felt just like I was in Portland! All that was missing was the perfect cup of coffee from Stumptown. Oh, what I would do for a few amazing drinks from there. Maybe it’s time to order some of their delicious coffee online!

Today I have quite a bit of work to catch up on, and I’m hoping to maybe stop downtown at my favorite Lola Coffee shop. I might have taken it a bit easy this weekend, so now it’s time to kick my butt into gear! Even with all of this work, I truly know that I am such a lucky lady and feel very blessed to have the opportunity to do all that I’m doing right now.

November Weekend

11.13.11

Yesterday was exactly what I needed. Morning breakfast date, a stop at my favorite coffee shop for an iced coffee, bike ride through the prettiest park, and movie date to see Like Crazy. I feel very fortunate to be able to have such great days like this with the guy I love.

What are you guys up to this weekend?

November Sunlight

11.11.11

It’s Friday and I’m so excited the weekend is here! Scott and I have a full morning planned, and I’m so excited to have a special day with him. This week has been kind of rough around here, so I’m very much looking forward to a wonderful weekend.

Yesterday Scott and I spent some time running errands, looking through a few shops in Scottsdale, and sipped on bottomless iced coffees. It was exactly what I needed. Around this time of year my brain always feels a little fried from school, so it’s nice to take little breaks to feel refreshed and ready to go back to work. I’m really looking forward to this stressful time being over though, my eye has been twitching for days!
Lately I’ve been wearing this gorgeous Taylor Kenney necklace. I’m kind of smitten with it, and love how delicate it is. This is the second piece of Taylor Kenney Jewelry I own (my other piece is a beautiful bangle), and I have to say that I’m so impressed with the quality, amazing customer service (the lady who runs the company is so, so sweet), and with the overall style aesthetic of the pieces. I feel that every piece is so unique, and also very wearable for every day. Their jewelry would make such great Christmas presents! Right now I’m loving this Lark Bangle, and this Zara Necklace.
These Jackie Boots from Blowfish Shoes also haven’t left my feet lately. I’ve received a lot of sweet compliments about them, and love how comfy they are. I’m so happy that it’s boots season!
“I always catch the clock it’s 11:11, and now you want to talk. It’s not hard to dream you’ll always be my Konstantine.” This lyric felt entirely appropriate for today! Happy 11/11!

Fall Bicycle Ride

11.10.11
It’s not a lie, I love going on bicycle rides! A few years ago Scott and I went to through a huge bicycle phase and went on the hunt to find us the most perfect bikes. Since then we have both switched up our bikes of choice, but we still love going on long bike rides around Tempe Town Lake.

I’m currently riding a 1970’ish Schwinn Speedster, and Scott is riding a 1970’ish Huffy. Scott purchased my bike at a garage sale a few years ago and spruced it up for me. I purchased Scott’s bike ride an antique store in a sale town in Colorado for a whole $7.50!
The morning we went on our ride it was absolutely beautiful! There was a chill in the air, and the sun was coming in and out behind the clouds! It was seriously the best! Before our ride we had a breakfast/coffee date, which made for an even more perfect morning.
It really had been too long since our last bike ride, but Scott and I vowed to make it apart of our weekly routine. Scott was so excited that he lifted his bike in joy!
Ok, maybe it didn’t quite happen that way, but it sure was funny!
We are both loving being able to layer lately. Seriously, I was made to live in a climate that allows me to layer all of the time. I feel much more like myself when I’m able to do so.
I have a feeling that from now on the cold weather will mostly last around here. Thank goodness for no more 100 degree days! I’m seriously going to savor this amazing weather much as possible! Here’s to cozy sweaters, warm drinks, and Blood Bank by Bon Iver.
Today is both Scott and I’s Friday, so I’m thinking it would be fun to go out to a movie. We haven’t been to one in SO long, which is SO unlike us! I kind of want to go see Martha Marcy May Marlene! Has anyone seen it yet?

A November Meet-Up

11.08.11

This past weekend Scott and met up with Adrianna of Le Mode Accessories. Adrianna and I first met in the beginning of this year when we did a fun lookbook for her website, and since then we have become good friends and always try to get together when she comes to town to visit her boyfriend. On Saturday we had dinner at Green Vegetarian to chat about an upcoming project, and than afterward we all headed over to Lola Coffee for some warm drinks.

I always love talking with Adrianna because she totally gets the blog thing, and I love learning about what new, fun things she has going on with her business and life. She truly is the sweetest lady.

The atmosphere and lighting in Lola that night was beautiful. I was so digging it. Perfect for coffee and catching up with friends!
Adrianna got a hot chai, and Scott and I split a decaf americano. It was truly a lovely night!
If you haven’t checked out Le Mode Accessories, I highly suggest doing so! They have some great purses, scarves, and all kinds of lovely jewelry!
What are you up to today? Have you had any perfect night out with friends lately?
