The Basics

08.12.11

Here it is, my final out-of-state outfit post for you! I took these while still in windy Wyoming! It was a hot afternoon and a top-knot and comfy clothes was exactly what I needed!

This day my jitters were high and I was SO excited and ready to come home! Packing was on my mind and I had so much fun doing so. I spread out all of my stuff out on the floor and packed it all as tight as I could. Of course I did this while sipping iced coffee, listening to tunes from my past, and petting my sweet puppy who laid beside me while I packed my things away.
This outfit felt so very basic, and so very me. I love a good grey vneck, a comfy sweater, and skinny jeans. It felt good to dress it up a little though with my favorite Dolly and Boy necklaces, and my Krust clutch.

Today is a special day because I’m going to be reunited with my sweet friend Courtney! I am SO excited to have a coffee date with her. I’ve missed her SO much! Goodness, coming home is the best. I feel like I’m surrounded by so much good and so much love here! Phoenix is honestly my favorite place in the world! There is truly no where like home!
Outfit Details:
Glasses: Ray Bans
Sweater: from my mom
Shirt: Target
Jeans: Levi’s
Necklaces: gift from Courtney of Dolly and Boy Jewelry
Doily clutch: c/o Krust
Sandals: Saltwater Sandals

A Utah Backtrack

08.11.11

Event though I’m back home in Arizona I still have a few Utah/Wyoming posts left to share with you. While I was still in Utah it was overcast and a bit chilly. I was feeling adventurous and decided to pair some shorts and a warm cardigan together. Shorts are pretty much out of my comfort zone (my elementary school didn’t allow shorts and it kind of ruined my liking for them), but I figured if I styled them with something I am completely comfortable with than I would be ok.

Fall was definitely in the air this day. Now that I’m back home the reality that fall weather isn’t going to be here until at least the very end of October has hit me. That doesn’t mean that I’m not going to celebrate it though, in fact, I feel like fall starts right now when school begins! New beginnings, new school clothes (yes, I am in grad school and still love new school clothes), and the thought that pumpkin spice lattes are less than a month away.
Recently I received the most amazing eco-friendly clutch and mini pouch from my sponsor Edit Bags (along with the warmest pair of mittens I’ve ever owned). The bag is made out of a recycled leather jacket, along with the most amazing vintage fabric. It’s super soft to the touch, and is the perfect fall accessory. Early this year I started getting more into carrying clutches, so I’m very excited to be adding this one to my collection.
The mini pouch is honestly SO cute! The floral fabric matches the inside of the clutch! I love that!
Edit Bags has such a lovely shop and so many cute, eco-friendly clutches and pouches. If you’re in need of a new pencil/coin/everything pouch for school, Edit Bags is definitely the place to go! This fancy floral one is my current favorite in the shop! Will someone please buy it before I do!
Today I’m spending time at my favorite local Coffee Bean working on blog stuff while my love sits besides me. Tonight we’re going to see The Decemberists at the Mesa Arts Center! We’re so excited!
Outfit details:
Cardigan: Gap
Blouse: Target
Shorts: Hurley
Clutch: c/o Edit Bags
Boat shoes: Sperry’s

Leaving On A Jet Plane Headed Home

08.09.11
Today’s the day! It’s finally here! Around 1 p.m. today I’ll be stepping onto a jet plane headed for Phoenix. Words can’t even describe how excited I am to be headed home to my love, my sweet grandma, my incredibly family, and amazing friends (not to mention my favorite city)!

This summer has been full of amazing adventures and I am very thankful for the opportunity. Now a new chapter in my life starts with grad school just around the corner, and I can’t wait to see what the fall holds for me!
Love and happiness is in the air today!

Windy Wyoming

08.08.11

Here we are, t-minus one day until I fly home to Arizona. Oh my goodness! I can’t believe it’s almost here! My heart is seriously singing! The beautiful words of Jack’s Mannequin, “I’ve got my things, I’m good to go,” keeps playing in my mind over, and over again. I’m SO ready for this!

Last week I was in Wyoming and the wind was consistently blowing through. After having my hair whip me in the eyes a few times I decided it was necessary to throw my hair up into a top knot to avoid any serious damage.

The wind was chilly, so the sun peaking through the clouds and pouring onto my back was very much welcomed. The weather in Wyoming is so temperamental! No longer than five minutes after these photos were taken the dark clouds came down and rain drops started to sprinkle from the sky. Oh my!
Recently my sweet blogger friend, Moorea, suffered a terrible loss in her family. I unfortunately know from experience that during such a time lots of love, sweet thoughts, and caring hearts are much appreciated. So if you have a moment, head on over to Moorea’s blog and leave her a little note of love and kindness.
Today I’m Logan, Utah for my last day of this traveling summer. Tuesday I’ll be driving on down to Salt Lake City to hop on a plane. Flying out of SLC is always my favorite because as we are leaving the area from above I can see a beautiful view of the amazing Salt Lake below. It’s truly a beautiful sight to see. I promise to try and take photos while I’m up there!
Outfit details:
Sunglasses: Ray Bans
Shirt: Quicksilver
Book Necklace: Moorea Seal // gift from the sweet Diana
Jeans: Levi’s

Have you ever been to Wyoming before? Do you have a favorite airport (weird question, but I totally have one!)?

“Snails See The Benefits”

08.06.11

It’s true, snails see the beauty in every inch, and on my recent drive through Utah that is exactly how I felt. The road was windy, and speeding by was not an option. If we would have, though, we would have missed this amazing opportunity to pull over and admire a beautiful bridge that sat in the middle of nowhere.

I’ve always been a big fan of bridges, and this one was definitely up there on my list of favorites I have seen over the years (alongside the ginormous bridge over the Hoover Dam).
Something about driving of this bridge felt therapeutic. For a moment all I thought about was the road beneath the bridge, holding tight while our car drove on over it. It’s kind of like life. It’s like that constant that you know will never change. Sometimes you take it for granted, but you mostly sit back and remember how good it is to you, and how it is always there when you need a helping hand (in this case, the bridge helped us not fall in the dinosaur bone infested waters (I’m sure there was dinosaurs in there)).
Today is another busy day. I’m down to t-minus three days until I step foot onto a plane. I’m so happy it’s almost here.
What are you up to today? Do you like bridges?

Nerves on High

08.05.11
The past week has held lots of anticipation, many Starbucks runs, and numerous drives through the Wyoming landscape.
To say my nerves aren’t running high would be a lie. All I can think about is stepping off of that plane into my home state. Just a few more days and that will be my reality. I truly can’t wait.
In the meantime I will be trying to keep myself busy, and planning out just exactly what my first week at home will be like.
What are your plans for the weekend?

Late Summer’s Eve

08.04.11

As the curtain is falling down over summer I’ve been looking back at all of the adventures I’ve had. I visited many, many towns, and have gone through three states over the last two and a half months. So much traveling has left me yearning for home and a daily schedule. I can’t wait to put my planner back into action every day.

Being back home means lots of stops at my favorite coffee shops, time spent holding hands with my honey, and driving around in my little zoom-zoom car. I just know this fall is going to be amazing, and I already can’t wait! Would it be appropriate to start my pumpkin spice celebration now? Why oh, why must those precious drinks not come out until September?!

I’m down to five days until I step onto that plane in Salt Lake, and off the plane in Phoenix. Flying is something that I’ve done my whole life, and is something I look forward to. I love getting onto that plane with my ipod, bags, and coffee in hand, and sitting down in my window sitting ready for take-off and my view of the below land. It’s sort of therapeutic, and something I will never take for granted.

Today packing and lots of iced coffee is on my mind. I have a few things I need to accomplish before Tuesday, but I am sure I will be able to get them done. That is, if I can walk away from all the lovely blogs I’ve been catching up on this afternoon!

Crested Butte Adventures

08.03.11
While in Colorado still I made a trip up to Crested Butte with my parents to look around. The town itself is small, but it’s full of color and very lively. Here’s a peek at my afternoon there:
Checking out a local boutique.

The prettiest hanging flowers I ever did see.

The colors of these buildings are amazing!

The most amazing vintage Schwinn.

The neatest seat for two!

The best restaurant in town! Their pita wraps are amazing! Oh, and they serve all of their drinks in mason jars!

The cutest pillow.
I wish I could have taken these home with me!

The craziest bikes I’ve ever seen. Protection from bugs and snow, perhaps?

Wish I could have stopped in for a session.

Pretty, pretty.

Pretty old buildings.

The river going through town is probably my most favorite thing of all. It’s such a beautiful town, and I was happy to be able to spend some time there this summer.
Do you have a favorite town you visit every summer?

Home On My Mind

08.02.11

Fall is on my mind and I’m not given it up! Although, when I get home to Phoenix and it’s 110 I might temporarily, but only with regards to the clothes I’m wearing. I already know the heat is going to be a shock for me for a few day (always is), but once I get back into my normal routine it will feel like I never left. I seriously love that feeling!

All last week and this week I’ve been dreaming up of what I want to do once I get to Phoenix. Being gone away from your home for two plus months can really screw with you, but it always really makes me appreciate even more what I’ve had to live without while I’ve been away.
I’m most looking forward to spending time with my family members and dearest friends. I can’t wait to see my love, my 83-year-old grandmother, my sweet cousins Odessa and Tony, and my lovely friend Courtney. I’ve missed them all so much!
It may sound silly, but I’m so excited to be a regular at my local Coffee Bean again. The whole staff knows Scott and I, and always greats us with the sweetest faces and kindest words when we walk in. I’m SO ready for my Coffee Bean iced coffee!
Come this day next week I’ll be packing up my things and heading off to the airport in Salt Lake City. It’s literally all I can think! Oh my! I sort of feel like I’m in a “ready to go home” daze, and I’m pretty sure iced coffee is going to be the only thing to semi knock me out of it. Thank goodness there is a Starbucks in this windy Wyoming town!
