04.04.13My amazing friend Ashley of The Shine Project recently announced their 2013 benefit, a girl’s night out beauty bar event! On Saturday, April 20th from 6-9pm at the Fashion Hub, guests are invited to enjoy getting their hair, nails, makeup and brows done all in the name of charity, with 100% of the proceeds going to The Shine Project scholarships! If your not familiar with The Shine Project and their amazing efforts, you can learn more about them by watching this video. Early bird tickets are $60 until April 13th, and $75 afterward, both of which can be purchased on their Evenbrite page. The evening will also include music, yummy food, raffles, and also a silent auction. If you can not attend, please consider purchasing a ticket

Business Casual
04.03.13Dressing for a professional or business casual type of atmosphere is not something I really know much about. Sure I’ve been a student for years and an intern here and there, but for the greater part of the last seven years that I’ve been in college my style has been pretty casual (and maybe a little grungy one day, a little girly the next, and usually somewhere in-between every other day). However, with graduation on the horizon and the job hunt on, I’m finding myself wanting to style up more business casual outfits (ya know, so when I do find a great job I already have a few outfits down pat that I know I can style up with ease when I’m running out the door).
Outfit details:
Stiletto red lip creme: c/o Too Faced Cosmetics
Blazer: Nordstrom’s Rack
Top: Madewell
Necklace: Origami Owl
Jeans: Gap
Bag: Coach
Watch: Fossil
Moccs: Minnetonka Moccasins
To be quite honest, Chelsea of Zipped is one of my biggest inspirations for business causal inspired outfits. I love how she pairs blazers and jeans with ease, and sometimes throws a pair of Minnetonka Moccasins in there just for fun. Thanks for always being such an inspiration, Chelsea!
Since the big job search began a month or so ago, I’ve already purchased my first pair of “dress pants,” a new staple white blouse, and two black blazers – the one I’m wearing being on the more casual side, and the other being more clean cut and professional looking. I’m still on the hunt for a few more staple pieces for my future career wardrobe, and would love to know any suggestions you all may have for staple career wardrobe pieces, as well as what your daily office style looks like. Fill a girl in, please! I need some help!

April 1st
04.01.13This is no April Fools joke, I’m wearing the most springy dress and feeling so, so happy that April is finally here. I would be lying if I didn’t say that this March was the most difficult month of my whole life. However, I’m incredibly hopeful that April will bring lots of love, light, and good days into my life. Plus, the count down to my 25th birthday begins (one month from tomorrow)!
Ok, I know today is April Fools and lots of jokes are going around, but I’ve truly got some great news to announce! My fellow Phoenix Style Collective members and I have been working our tales off to finalize details for the 2013 Arizona Blogger Conference, and tomorrow, April 2nd, we will be opening our Eventbrite page for ticket purchases (will be blogging the link tomorrow)! I am so, so excited about this and I’m already counting down the days to the conference. This will our second year hosting the conference in this manner (Remember in 2011 when it was the Arizona Blogger Meet-Up? That was such a fun event!), and we are expecting another great turn out! We have some awesome speakers lined up and lots of other great surprises up our sleeve!
On a side note, spinning around in this magical dress from LuLu*s just felt so right! Let’s bring so much happiness, positivity, and love into this month, friends! I just know we could all use an exceptionally happy month!

Week 13 Wrap-Up
03.31.135 Things
03.30.13Lately I’ve spotted a few ladies around the blogosphere blogging their “5 Things,” so today I thought I would hop on the bandwagon and post my own.
1. Scott and I met at the coffee shop he worked at in September of 2006. I came to watch his band play so I could write about the show for my super cool e-zine (oh, we all had one of those, right?). We barely talked that night, and when I was leaving and saying goodbye he was too busy texting with a pair of monster hands on to look up and say goodbye back. I still tease him about it to this day! Love you, hun!
2. I absolutely love airports! I totally thrive on that craziness that happens when trying to find your flight or making a connection. I love knowing that almost everyone there is going somewhere, and often find myself partaking in some major people watching while I sip my iced coffee (a flying essential, of course).
3. I owe my coffee addiction to two people, my cousin, Amanda, and Scott. When Amanda and I were teenagers she was obsessed with Starbucks (being from Washington state), and I couldn’t help to want to indulge in the daily caramel macchiatos she was drinking when we were on vacation together. When Scott and I met a few years later he was working at a coffee shop and would make me the tastiest coffee drinks (raspberry hazelnut lattes were my favorite). Eventually Scott and I both dropped the sugary drinks and have been black coffee drinkers ever since.
4. Makeup has always been a passion of mine, but over the years my obsession with it has come and gone (staying consistent for over the past year, however). In high school I was all about big and bold eyeshadow (loved my golden oranges, greens and blues, and shimmer was a must). Today I still really love bold eyeshadow and all things shimmery, but I’m also a total blush and lipstick kind of gal and truly enjoy having fun with my makeup looks.
5. I’m a native Arizonian with Colorado and Washington tendencies. While Colorado has been my home for every summer since I can remember, Washington has also always held a special place in my heart and left me with a constant feeling of being homesick. That may sound strange, but my heart has always felt like it resided in more than one state. I guess that’s what I get for having two parents that grew up in separate states and raised their baby girl in the sunshine of the Grand Canyon state.
Ok, that’s it! I’ve seen a few people tag other bloggers to follow along in the fun, so I’m going to do the same (however, I would love to see all of you partake in this 5 things tag and leave a comment below with your five things, or five things blog post). I’m tagging Chelsea of Zipped, Kara of Sunshine Cupcakes, Maria of Little Tree Vintage, Marlyn of Little Red Bowtalk, and Elise of Enjoy it!
Happy weekend!

Brights & Lights
03.28.13Today the sun is shining and spring really feels like it’s in the air. The past few days have left Phoenix in an overcast, breezy kind of state, but this morning the sun was shining ever so brightly through my windows and there isn’t a cloud in the sky. I’m pretty sure this mean that today calls for a little spring shopping date (because my brights and lights pieces of my wardrobe need an update), and maybe a trip to Sprinkles Cupcakes for that brown sugar praline cupcake I spotted on their Instagram! YUM!
Knowing that it’s about time to set aside my more fall/winter appropriate lipstick colors in exchange for some more spring/summer shades, I’ve been really into finding the perfect coral, pink, and orangey lip colors that will best suit my skin tone and my ever dry lips. I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of my Radiant Cosmetics’ moisturizing lipstick in Reef lately, and really love the color payoff and how nice it leaves my lips feeling. I also haven’t left home without a Revlon lip butter in my bag recently (loving the color Juicy Papaya currently), and a little NYX blush on my cheeks. What can I say, I’ve really turned into a true makeup gal over this past year!
I feel like I can’t leave this blog post without saying how much I adore these Coco sandals from Blowfish Shoes. I’m totally a “gladiator” sandal type of gal, and these little gems also speak to my obsession with quality and comfy sandals (best of both words!). Blowfish Shoes is also having a 15% off everything sale through 3/31 with the code EASTER! Can’t beat that!
Outfit details:
Sweater: Jcrew
Top: Jcpenney
Lipstick: Reef by Radiant Cosmetics
Jeans: Gap
Watch: Fossil
Bag: Coach
Coco sandals: c/o Blowfish Shoes
Ok, I’m off to finish a little school work and then out to enjoy the rest of this glorious spring day! What are you up to today, sweet friends? What lipstick or blush are you currently loving for the spring season?

Stripe Out
03.27.13Hello, sweet friends! Now that my comps exams are finally over I’m working toward getting back into a more regular, every day groove. For weeks I spent a crazy amount of time researching, outlining, writing, and studying, over, and over again (and can I just saw boy that job is a time sucker), but now that my test are over and I’m finished with those notes and faux papers that I wrote for the weeks leading up to the exam, all of those prized paper materials are just sitting in my car, right where they belong (ok, maybe I should at least move them out of and into a school folder? meh, maybe later!). Besides those golden notes that are now sitting in my car and not in my hands all day, every day, I have found myself with some spare time and a hankering to just wander around beauty counters and get coffee with friends (which is something amazing to do after weeks of having to say, “Oh, I wish I could but I have to study!”) Anyways, since Monday I’ve definitely spent some time wandering around Ulta and Sephora (and I think MAC is next up on my list of places to go), and also got coffee with my trusty Phoenix Style Collective crew (you’re ready for the 2013 Arizona Blogger Conference, right? It’s coming! More details soon, but mark your calendars! It’s sure not an evening to be missed).
Top: Gap
Bag: Vintage Coach
Watch: Fossil
June bangle: c/o Stowe Street
Jeans: Levi’s
Clogs: c/o Sandgrens Sweden
Getting back into the groove of every day life also means that it’s now time to settle back into my usual outfit photo taking routine (and man have I missed it!). I truly am SO ready to style up some cute, spring outfits and bring a little sunshine to this little blog of mine. Oh spring, I really hope you’re a good one! Ok, I’ve got a busy day ahead of me and I’m off to make the best of it (and maybe pick a new lipstick or two to brighten things up, HA)!
What are you most excited for this spring? Will you be joining The Phoenix Style Collective for the 2013 Arizona Blogger Conference on April 27th in downtown Phoenix? I sure hope so!

Exhale
03.26.13EXHALE – That is exactly what I did once I walked out of that classroom today after finishing up my LAST comprehensive exam (3/3 that I have to pass to graduate). The stress and pressure from these three, graduate determining exams has been SO overwhelming lately, so to know that I am completely finished with them (well, as long as I have no re-writes, cross your fingers!) is SO relieving! Woohoo!
Tonight I’m off to spend some much needed catch-up time with sweet friends, and hopefully sip on a delicious coffee and sweet treat from a new local spot downtown! Here’s to a great evening, and thank you SO, SO much to everyone who has wished me well during this exams process! I couldn’t have done it without your encouragement, friends!
What are you up to tonight?
