Mirror, Mirror

04.23.13

Just thought it would be fun to share a lovely app that I’ve been obsessing over lately, Mirrorgram! I learned about this sweet app via my friend, Chelsea, and have since found myself wanting to use it every day (because what’s better than a cute pair of shoes and an iced coffee..well…two cute pairs of shoes and two iced coffees!). I always love learning about fun new apps, and thought you all might appreciate this fairly recent find as well! Let me know if you use it, or if you have any other favorite apps (they don’t have to just be camera apps either).

What app(s) have you been loving lately?

PS I’m in LOVE with this Deerkskin Soft-T mocs in the color champagne from Minnetonka Moccasins! Like WOW!

2013 Arizona Blogger Conference…Is Almost Here!

04.23.13

Just a reminder, the 2013 Arizona Blogger Conference is this Saturday, April 27th from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Hotel Palomar in downtown Phoenix. My fellow Phoenix Style Collective members and I are getting SO excited for the event, and can’t wait to see so many of you there! Last year’s conference was so memorable, and I just know that this year’s conference is going to be equally, if not more amazing! There’s still some time to get a ticket (and a Hello Apparel goodie bag filled with so many neat treats and trinkets from some amazing companies!), but don’t wait too long! Also, thinking about taking an Uber to the event? We’ve got you covered! Use the promo code AZBLOGGER13 for a free ride (up to $20) for first time riders!

Will I be seeing you there?

On A Sunday

04.22.13

Sundays around here usually aren’t very exciting. Usually Scott is at work until the late afternoon, and I’m working away on school work, blog posts, and/or emails, but this Sunday was different. This Sunday Scott and I met up with an old college friend (Hi Whitney!) for brunch at The Breakfast Club at Cityscape in downtown Phoenix, and then headed over to the spring clothing swap that was happening over at Grow-Op and hosted by Co-OPhx. The sun was shining oh so bright, and there wasn’t enough iced coffee to keep me cool (oh summer, you’re really on your way). However, it was so good to be out and about on a Sunday and being able to see so many lovely people in one place! Phoenix, you really know how to do Sundays right!

Outfit details:
Dress: Madewell
Ring: Vintage
Bracelets: Kate Spade & Vintage
Purse: Kate Spade
Sandals: Saltwater Sandals

Today begins major crunch time! The 2013 Arizona Blogger Conference is THIS week, and my classes/exams will be over before I know it! My birthday is also one week from Thursday, and I’m currently trying to ward off my quarter life crisis (HA, but really! Turning 25 is a crazy thought). I’ve got this though, right? RIGHT! Let’s do this, Monday!

What are you up to today, sweet friends? How was your weekend? What are you most looking forward to this week?

1. The kindest gifts from Minnetonka Moccasins! I am so excited to share these on the blog! // 2. On Thursday evening Scott and I saw The Postal Service in concert! After ten long years of awaiting this moment, we were left in a state of awe. To say this show was amazing would be an understatement. // 3. Had such a lovely evening at The Shine Project benefit with my sweet friend, Ashley! // 4. I’m obsessing over these leopard kilty mocs from Minnetonka Moccasins!
3 Weekly Favorites:

2. Spending some quality time with my pups and realizing that they are growing up way too quickly.
3. Realizing the 2013 Arizona Blogger Conference is now less than a week away and getting SO excited/nervous for the day to come! Have you seen the list of the amazing speakers we are having? It’s going to be a dream like evening!
2  Hopes for the New Week:

Such Great Heights

04.19.13

“I am thinking it’s a sign that the freckles in our eyes are mirror images and when we kiss they’re perfectly aligned.”

Scott and I are off to see The Postal Service tonight! We’ve been waiting ten years for this show, and we’re so excited that the day has finally come when we get to hear their lovely tunes in person (and see my girl crush, Jenny Lewis!).

Are any of you going to the Phoenix show tonight? Let me know!

The City’s Thumbprint

04.16.13

Phoenix is one of those cities you can always count on for amazing street art. Every few blocks in downtown (or sometimes every block) you can also bet that you’re going to find something colorful and unique adorning an old brick wall. About three weeks ago I started to watch this brightly colored, thumbprint design come to life as I drove by each day on my way to get coffee. I loved watching the progression as more colors were added, and the detail started to come alive. As of now, I’m not quite sure of  the meaning behind the art piece (it is painted like a thumbprint, though, with the year 1913 being at the center), but do love how much it brightens up this once dreary, beige wall.

Can I also just mentioned for a second how very rocker chic and Grecian Goddess like I felt in this ensemble. It may have been the almost all black ensemble, but really I think these Greece sandals from Blowfish Shoes really did the trick! They are not only super cute, but also SO comfy and SO easy to walk in. When it comes to tall shoes, I may keep them on for an hour, may two at the most, but with these I kept them on the whole day with no problems! Ladies and gents, I’ve found my perfect spring/summer sandals!

Outfit details:
Cardigan: Banana Republic
Top: Levi’s
Jeans: Levi’s
Watch: Fossil
Bracelet & Bag: Kate Spade
Greece sandals: c/o Blowfish Shoes

I’m off for a busy day of errands and emails! The 2013 Arizona Blogger Conference is less than two weeks away, and graduation day is just on the horizon – to say I’m going to have a busy few weeks is an understatement, but I’m SO ready for it! Yesterday I picked out my dress for the bloggers conference (and I plan on wearing it at one of my graduation shindigs as well), and last night the Phoenix Style Collective gals got together to finalize last minute details! We are all SO excited and can’t wait to see so many of you there! Have you got your ticket yet? The goody bags are looking amazing and I would hate for anyone to miss out on all of the fun surprises inside of them – so buy your ticket early!

Do you have a lot of street art in your city? Have you found your perfect spring/summer sandal yet?

Festival Style

04.13.13

With Coachella upon us, and a handful of other spring/summer music festivals on the horizon, I’ve been feeling really inspired to put together what would be my go-to festival outfit. While I’m not able to attend Coachella this year (even though I’m only hours away), I still live in the dessert and felt it totally appropriate to bring the festival spirit alive on this glorious spring day.

To me, a festival ensemble should include lightweight materials, layering options, a small bag to carry around your necessities in, Southwestern inspired jewelry, and a pair of Minnetonka Moccasins. In my 10+ years of attending shows and music festivals, I’ve definitely worn similar outfits to this one oodles of times. In fact, this upcoming Wednesday Scott and I are going to see The Postal Service and I plan on wearing something very similar to this to the show! We even have pit tickets, which I couldn’t be more excited about (and neither could Scott – he bought them THE second they went on sale to the general public).

Outfit details:

Cardigan: c/o Jcpenney
Dress: Levi’s
Bag: Vintage Coach
Bracelet: gift
Ring: Vintage
Booties: Minnetonka Moccasins

I would love to hear what your go-to festival looks are, and if you’re attending Coachella this weekend or any other upcoming music festivals or shows. I’ll be catching up on some errands, cleaning, and school work this weekend, but also mentally preparing myself for what is set to be the concert of a lifetime (Ben Gibbard AND Jenny Lewis in one room! YES!).

What are you up to this weekend? Tell me about your day!

Pop of Green

04.10.13

I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t afraid of color. Ok, let’s not get dramatic here but bright, bold colors have always been something that I tended to steer clear of in my every day style over the past few years. However, there are those few select bright and bold pieces that have made their way into my wardrobe, and every once in awhile I drag them out to play. These kelly green, corduroy pants I got on super sale from Anthropologie last spring is one of those pieces. I remember bringing them home and feeling SO excited to step out of my comfort zone and bring a little color into my life. Well, after wearing them a few times they ended up in the back of the closet awaiting the next time I would feel bold enough to wear them out. I hate to say that it took me almost a whole year to pull these out again, but really, it did. With that said, I felt great pairing these colorful pants with a staple chambray top and my favorite cardigan, leather bag and sandals combo. However, I truly knew that this ensemble was meant to be when I walked into my lecture on Monday and realized a fellow classmate (Hi Colleen!) was wearing almost exactly the same outfit! What can I say, great minds think alike!

Outfit details:
Cardigan: Banana Republic
Chambray: Levi’s
Necklace: c/o A Lovely Little Shop
Corduroys: AG
Ring: Vintage
Bracelets: Vintage
Bag: Vintage Coach
Sandals: Saltwater Sandals

Today I’m in crunch mode for a presentation (turned teaching lesson? AH!) I have tomorrow, and may have stayed up too late last night working away on other projects, emails, and of course this blog post. Oh, the life of a grad student really is glamorous, isn’t it? HA! It’s worth it though, let me tell you! I am THIS close to being done and couldn’t be more happy!

Ok, time for more coffee, lots of study time, and maybe a little peruse time through a store of my choice just to relax a bit and balance my grad school brain out.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you need a break that will refresh your mind and get you ready to take on more homework, writing, chores, etc.?

Spring Picnic

04.09.13

This printed, peter pan collar top that I picked up in the tiny town of Crested Butte, Colorado a few summers back always reminds me of spring picnics – ya know, the kind where you spread out on a red checkerboard blanket in the middle of grassy patch, snacking on fruits, veggies and sipping iced cold coffee and tea while you take in the sun. Last week the weather warmed up quite a bit around here and I couldn’t stop dreaming about picnics and a trip to the fancy Clarendon Hotel pool, but since then a blustery storm has moved its way into town and we’ve been left with mass amounts of dust in the air, tumbling tumbleweeds, and the perfect amount of drizzly and coolness to make me realize how thankful I am to still have 50 degree evenings in April. Come May, days like these will be far away from us, so I’m savoring every moment of this glorious weather that I can.

See that lovely gold chain and clear crystal beaded bracelet there? Well, it’s my favorite Threads bracelet and it hasn’t left my wrist lately. I’m getting SO excited for The Shine Project Beauty Bar benefit on the 20th, and hope to see so many of you there! Proceeds go to an amazing cause and its sure to be an extra fun evening of pampering and good company! Have you got your ticket yet?

Outfit details:
Top: found at a boutique in Crested Butte, Colorado
Bracelets and watch: Threads, vintage, c/o Stowe Street, and Fossil
Bag: Coach
Jeans: Gap
Sandals: Saltwater Sandals

Today I’m playing catch up on some homework (i.e I have a presentation on Thursday and need to put some major work into it), and I’m also hoping to go on a mini photo adventure.

What are you up to this today? What kinds of snacks do you like to pack for a picnic lunch?
